Thermostat housing (1.8L/2.0L/1.6L Zetec-E) — removal and installation (Focus 1)

Removal

1. Drain the coolant from the cooling system. For more information, refer to the Draining/Filling Coolant and Bleeding the Cooling System chapter in this section.

2. Disconnect the coolant hoses.



3. Remove the thermostat housing bolts.



4. Remove the thermostat housing.

• 1. Disconnect the coolant hose.
• 2.Remove the thermostat housing.

5. Remove the O-ring and discard it as no longer needed.

Installation

1.

Note: Install a new O-ring.

Install the elements back in place in reverse order.



2. Fill the cooling system. For more information, refer to the Draining/Filling Coolant and Bleeding the Cooling System chapter in this section.
