Removing the water pump in a diesel engine 1.8

Disconnect the battery from the vehicle electrical network.

Drain the coolant as previously described.

Remove the suction muffler.

Remove the toothed belt cover.

Raise the vehicle on the garage lift and remove the side cover.

Remove the bottom casing of a gear belt.

Remove the generator cover.

Loosen and remove the alternator drive V-belt.

Remove the plug from the TDC dowel pin socket.

Lower the lift and put the car on wheels.

Set the piston of the first cylinder to TDC (pic. 2.91).



Turn the crankshaft in the opposite direction while the engine is running. The rotation must be completed at the moment when the injection pump shaft turns 15°.

Screw the TDC locating pin into the engine housing.

Rotate the crankshaft in the same direction as the engine rotates during operation. Rotation must be completed at the moment when there is contact with the TDC locating pin.

Loosen the camshaft timing belt tensioner, move it away from the belt and securely fix it.

Remove the idler shaft wheel (pic. 2.92).



Remove the toothed belt.

Remove the inner casing of the toothed belt (pic. 2.93).



Carefully loosen and remove the toothed belt tensioner.

Remove the coolant pump spacer.

Remove and take out the coolant pump.
