Water pump installation in 1.4i/1.6i engines

Remove the rest of the gasket from the surface of the engine housing.

Install the pump with a new gasket and tighten the mounting bolts to the recommended torque.

Loosely install the toothed belt tensioner.

Check the installation of the crankshaft and camshaft, which must correspond to the position of the piston in the first cylinder at TDC.

Install the toothed belt so that the tensioner rod is tensed.

Tension the belt according to the recommendations given in section 2.3 "Engine assembly".

Install the toothed belt guard.

Install and tension the V-belt. The long section of the belt should sag 8 mm under thumb pressure.

Establish elastic hoses of system of cooling.

Fill the cooling system by gradually pouring liquid into the expansion tank. The liquid level in the tank should reach the mark "MAX".

Connect the battery to the car's electrical network and start the engine. Warm up the engine to normal temperature. The upper coolant hose must be hot.

Bring the fluid level in the expansion tank to normal.
