Installing a water pump in 1.4i/1.6i engines (Fiesta 2)

Remove any remaining gasket from the engine housing surface.

Install the pump with a new gasket and tighten the mounting bolts to the recommended torque.

Loosen the timing belt tensioner.

Check the installation of the crankshaft and camshaft, which should correspond to the position of the piston in the first cylinder at TDC.

Install the timing belt so that the tensioner rod is taut.

Tighten the belt according to the recommendations given in the section 2.3 "Engine Assembly".

Install the timing belt cover.

Install and tension the V-belt. The long section of the belt should deflect 8 mm under the pressure of your thumb.

Install the flexible cooling system hoses.

Fill the cooling system by gradually pouring the liquid into the expansion tank. The liquid level in the tank should reach the "MAX" mark.

Connect the battery to the vehicle's electrical system and start the engine. Warm up the engine to normal temperature. The upper coolant hose should be hot.

Bring the fluid level in the expansion tank to normal.
