2 | Slave (friction) clutch disc | |
3 | Flywheel |
The clutch transmits torque from the engine to the gearbox. The clutch includes a driven (friction) disk and a pressure plate, which is bolted to the flywheel.
When the clutch is engaged (the clutch pedal is depressed), the power flow between the engine and the gearbox is interrupted. This means that when the clutch is not engaged, it is in an engaged (not free) state. Once engaged, the clutch is disengaged (disengaged).
