Info button
All functions of the multifunction display can be called up one after the other by pressing the INFO button. The central timer module (CTM) control signal sounds.
Multifunctional display
The multifunction display provides the driver with the following information:
- Outside temperature
- Instantaneous fuel consumption
- Average fuel consumption
- Remaining distance to refueling
- Average speed
Outside temperature
This function displays the outside temperature in degrees C or degrees F. When the temperature drops to +4°C or (40°F) and then rises to 0°C or (32°F), the central timer module sounds a warning signal. This signal warns the driver of the possibility of icy roads. The driver can select the temperature display mode in degrees C or degrees F by pressing the function selection button to switch the mode.
Instantaneous fuel consumption
This function shows the instantaneous fuel consumption. The measurements are taken at high frequency by the powertrain control module, which reacts very quickly to any changes in driving technique. Under certain conditions, this can lead to significant fluctuations in the displayed value.
Average fuel consumption
This function shows the average fuel consumption of the vehicle since the function was last reset. To reset the default value of 35 mpg, press the reset button at any time.
Remaining distance to refueling
This function shows the approximate distance the vehicle can travel using the fuel remaining in the fuel tank. Changing your driving technique can change this value up or down. A short warning signal sounds when the remaining distance is 80 km (50 miles), 40 km (25 miles), 20 km (12 miles), 0 km (0 miles).
Average speed
This function shows the average speed of the vehicle calculated over the last 1000 km (600 miles) or since the last reset. To reset the function, press the reset button at any time
Ice hazard warning indicator light
The ice warning indicator lamp is controlled by a signal sent to the information and message center by the ice warning sensor. When the outside temperature drops to +4°C or (40°F), the information and message center turns on the ice warning indicator lamp.
Low windshield washer fluid level indicator light
The low washer fluid level indicator lamp is controlled by a signal sent to the information and message center by the washer fluid level sensor. The information and message center activates the indicator lamp when the washer fluid level in the reservoir is insufficient.
Operating principles
The following indicator lights are integrated into the information and message centre:
Ice warning indicator light
The ice warning indicator is controlled by the information and message center and the outside air temperature sensor. When the outside air temperature drops below 5°C (41°F), the information and message center turns on the ice warning indicator.
Windscreen washer fluid level indicator light
The windshield washer fluid level indicator lamp is controlled by the windshield washer fluid level switch, which is directly connected to the information and message center. The information and message center turns on the indicator lamp when the washer fluid level in the reservoir is insufficient.
- Ice (amber lamp)
- Windscreen washer fluid level low (amber light)
The following functions of the information and message centre are available in position II of the ignition switch:
- Outside air temperature
- Average speed of the car
- Instantaneous fuel consumption
- Average fuel consumption
- Remaining distance to refueling
