Air distribution and purification
A new heating and ventilation system has been developed to ensure uniform air distribution. The distribution valves are controlled by a simple rotary switch with five positions (footwell, footwell/anti-fog, footwell/face level, face level, and anti-fog). For additional information, refer to Section 412-01.
Heating/Ventilation
Coolant constantly flows through the heater radiator. Heating efficiency is regulated by a mechanical air temperature valve.
All vehicles have an air recirculation function, which is provided by a flap driven by a servomotor. When the air recirculation function is selected, it remains on even after the ignition is turned on or off. For more information, refer to Section 412-02A / 412-02B.
Air conditioning
The air conditioning system is installed as an optional equipment, i.e. at the customer's request. The air conditioning system operates on the principle of a pipeline with a nozzle. Temperature control is manual. Currently, there is no semi- or fully automatic temperature control. The type of pipeline with a nozzle and the installation position of the service ports are the same on all variants.
The compressor is a capacity controlled Scroll type compressor. The compressor is similar to the compressor used in the 1996 Fiesta diesel cars. The identification code is FVS 090 (Ford Variable Scroll).
Vehicles intended for the North American market are equipped with the FS10 compressor. For additional information, refer to Section 412-03.
The compressor has a built-in thermal relay; when the temperature at the compressor outlet port (on the high pressure side) is 115°C, this relay cuts off the power supply to the electromagnetic clutch.
To replace the evaporator, the entire air distribution system housing must be removed.
