Main gear — design description (Focus Turnier 1)

The gearbox and final drive, together with the differential, are housed in a common housing in the Focus. The power from the engine to the gearbox is transmitted through one small and one large gear (the final drive gear) to the final drive.

Main gear of the gearbox: 1 - differential housing; 2 - plate gear; 3 - gearbox output shaft; 4 and 7 - bevel gears of satellites; 5 - spacer sleeve; 6 - planetary gear; 8 - satellite axis; 9 - distance and fixing ring.

The main gear pinion is screwed to the differential housing. And finally, the drive shafts create a force-lock connection between the main gear and the wheel hub.
