The turbocharged Endura engine has a feature that prevents the system from completely emptying and therefore running dry: as soon as the diesel fuel reserve drops below 2%, the PCM sets the injection pump to zero flow. Advantage: You should only use the Focus after replacing the injection pump traditionally «pump» fuel system, otherwise the starter, delaying the starting process with the engine, will do it for you.
Engine regulation: 1 - Distribution injection pump Bosch VP-30; 2 - pump control unit (PCU); 3 - nozzle with 5 holes; 4 - temperature sensor in the cylinder head (SNT); 5 - absolute pressure sensor in the intake manifold (IDA); 6 - intake air temperature sensor (IAT) in the charge air cooler; 7 - EGR vacuum regulator; 8 - intake air temperature sensor (IAT) in front of the turbocharger; 9 - air filter; 10 - combined instrument; 11 - turbocharger Garett-GT15; 12 - accelerator pedal sensor (AR); 13 - clutch pedal position sensor (SRR); 14 - stoplight switch (WRR); 15 - diagnostic socket (DLC); 16 - ignition lock; 17 - transmission control unit (PCM) EEC V with 104 pins and integrated PATS; 18 - damper valve of the turbocharger; 19 - exhaust gas recirculation valve (EGR) with an installation EGR sensor; 20 - vacuum pump; 21 - battery charging (Smart-Charging); 22 - pin glow plug; 23 - crankshaft position sensor (TFR); 24 - fuel tank; 25 - fuel filter.
In order to force fuel to circulate in the system when the engine is running, diesel engines have a supply and return fuel lines. The nozzles are also integrated into them: they have a return fitting and are in contact with each other via a hose line (fuel drain pipe). From the nozzle located on the right in the direction of travel (1st cylinder), fuel flows through the fuel return line back to the fuel tank. The recirculation hole of the nozzle of the fourth cylinder - this is due to the principle of operation - is sealed with a plug.
