In the Focus, the driver and passenger next to the driver sit on so-called "Anti-Dive-Silzen" seats. The seats are an integrated structural element of the Ford Safety Restraint System (SRS): their consoles are equipped with pyrotechnic seat belt tensioners, which instantly tighten the seat belts in an accident and thus reduce the free position of the belts to a minimum. If the seats are removed unprofessionally, the belt tensioner may "ignite" and become unusable. If you nevertheless undertake the removal yourself, then first obtain information from a Ford store about the safety instructions.
Belt tensioner in detail: 1 - belt lock; 2 - tension piston; 3 - working body; 4 - gas generator; 5 - ignition module; 6 - guide element; 7 - tension cable.
IMPORTANT: After disconnecting the battery, wait at least one minute before disconnecting the safety restraint system connector. Otherwise, the airbags and the pyrotechnic seat belt tensioner will deploy. Injuries may result, in addition to the enormous costs associated with replacing the systems.
Front seat
Disconnect the battery (then wait at least one minute).
Move the seat all the way back.
Remove the outer seat guide trim.
Remove both front bolts.
Move the seat fully forward.
Disconnect the 5-pin connector under the seat
Remove both rear bolts.
Disconnect the 5-pin connector under the seat.
Remove the seat.
Complete the installation in reverse order. Tighten the mounting bolts to 38 Nm.
Back seat
Remove the front bolts (arrow) under the seat cushion.

Lift the seat cushion slightly at the front and push it back hard at the same time. The hook and latch underneath the seat cushion should disengage.
Lift the seat from the rear and carefully remove it.
When installing, align the seat and hook the latch onto the bolt.
Tighten the mounting bolts to 38 Nm.
Backrest of the rear seat
Fold the rear seat cushion up.
Remove the center seat belt anchor.
Remove the bolts (arrows) from the rear seat back.
Remove the rear seat back
Remove the rear seat back.
Complete the installation in the reverse order (tighten the hinge bolts to 58 Nm, for the other bolts 28 Nm is sufficient).
