Seat removal

It is not recommended to dismantle the front seats yourself.

In the Focus, the driver and passenger next to the driver sit on so-called seats «Anti-Dive-Silzen». The seats are an integrated structural element of the Ford Restraint System (SRS): their consoles are equipped with pyrotechnic seat belt tensioners, which, in the event of an accident, tighten the seat belts with lightning speed and thereby reduce the loose position of the belts to a minimum. If the seats are not professionally removed, the belt tensioner may «ignite» and become unusable. If you do undertake the disassembly yourself, please check with the Ford Store for safety instructions first.

IMPORTANT: After disconnecting the battery, wait at least one minute before disconnecting the connector for the restraint system. Otherwise, the airbags and the pyrotechnic belt tensioner will deploy. Injuries can result, not to mention the huge costs associated with replacing systems.

Front seat

Disconnect the battery (then wait at least one minute).

Move the seat fully back.

Remove the outer lining of the seat rails.

Remove both front bolts.

Move the seat fully forward.



Remove both rear bolts.

Disconnect the 5-pole connector under the seat.

Take out the seat.

Complete installation in reverse order. Tighten the fixing bolts to 38 Nm.

Backseat

Remove the front bolts (arrow) under the seat cushion.



Slightly lift the seat cushion in front and at the same time move it strongly back. The hook and latch under the seat cushion should come off.

Raise the rear seat and carefully remove.


When mounting, align the seat and hook the hook on the latch.

Tighten the fixing bolts to 38 Nm.

Rear seat back

Fold up the rear seat cushion.

Remove the middle seat belt anchor.

Unscrew the bolts (arrows) rear seat backs.



Pull out the rear seat back.

Complete installation in reverse order (tighten the hinge bolts to 58 Nm, for other bolts 28 Nm is sufficient).
