Removing the roof antenna

Factory-installed radios receive information from the air via an antenna. The antennas on the roof are almost indestructible - provided that they are not exposed to the brushes at the sink. Therefore, first unscrew the antenna from the base, otherwise the brushes will get tangled in the antenna and break it. You can minimize the resulting costs: buy a suitable antenna in the car accessories store and put the savings from its installation in your pocket. If you have to redo the entire installation, it goes without saying that you must also hide the antenna wire under the A-pillar trim panel and under the front edge of the ceiling.

Antenna base



Disconnect the battery.

Remove the interior lamp as described above, disconnect the connectors.

Remove the interior light trim panel.

Unscrew the fixing bolt at the base of the antenna (arrow).

Remove the antenna base from the roof up.

Align the new antenna base on the roof (to do this, screw the antenna) and tighten.

Mount all structural elements in reverse order.

Antenna wire



Mount the antenna base as described above.


Remove the A-pillar trim.

Remove the sun visor.

Carefully detach the front edge of the ceiling.

Route the antenna wire loosely.

Remove the radio as described above.

Pull the antenna wire out of the clip next to the heat exchanger housing.

Dismantle the antenna wire (arrow).



Remove the antenna wire from the clamp


Route new antenna wire and connect.

Mount all structural elements in reverse order.
