Elimination Method
The shift lever is difficult to move or is blocked. Check gear lever. Check the gearshift mechanism and gearshift lever slider. Check the automatic transmission safety control relay. Check transmission identification plate (on the crankcase).
Oil leaks at the height of the hydrokinetic transmission after replacing the sealing ring, as well as the transmission pump. Check the correct installation of the ring in the housing of the hydrokinetic transmission. Check: – the condition of the engine crankshaft rear seal and the oil pump sealing ring, – the tightness of the hydrokinetic transmission aluminum bolts, the hydrokinetic transmission housing drain plug, and the hydrokinetic transmission weld.
Traces of oil leakage from the gearbox are visible from the outside.

Check: – the o-ring at the rear of the gearbox housing, – the horizontal oil lines on the crankcase and their connections, – the adjusting bolt of the front planetary drive, – the gasket of the shift lever and the gear lever, – the gasket between the rear of the crankcase and the control connections, – the oil pan gasket, – the speedometer cable gasket, – the vacuum regulator gasket.

Oil leakage without external traces. Replace vacuum regulator.
Launch
The engine does not start, although the starter and battery are good. Replace the automatic transmission safety control relay.
The starter does not turn on in the "P" and "N" positions. Adjust the external gearshift mechanism.
The engine starts in all positions of the gear lever. Replace the automatic transmission safety control relay.
Movement
There is no gear shifting or lack of traction. Check the oil pressure in the automatic transmission. Check the serviceability of the hydrokinetic transmission and oil pump; if necessary, remove and clean the gearbox. Check for mechanical damage to the automatic transmission input shaft, turbine, clutch housing or front planetary gear.
Reverse movement does not occur in the "R" position " (lack of traction; actuator friction in positions "D", "2" and also "1". Check the possibility of engine braking in position "1". Check the oil pressure in the automatic transmission. Check the operation of the reverse gear and direct gear clutch, as well as the rear planetary gear drive.
Lack of traction and shifting in the "D", "2", and "1" positions, while in the "R" position, the traction is normal. Check the oil pressure in the automatic transmission. If the pressure is too low in positions "D", "2" and also "1", then check the rear planetary drive and the planetary clutch seal. If the pressure is normal, then most likely mechanical damage has occurred to the front planetary gear or the input shaft of the automatic transmission.
Lack of traction and shifting in the "D" position, while in the "2" and "1" positions the traction is normal. Adjust the external gearshift mechanism. Check the functioning of the unidirectional clutch. Remove and clean gearbox.
Strong friction of the drive in all positions of the gear lever. Adjust the engine idle speed in position "D" to obtain values of 650 - 700 rpm. Check the oil pressure in the automatic transmission.
The vehicle has a tendency to automatically move forward ("pulls") with the exception of provisions "P" and "R". Check the forward clutch for proper operation. Remove and clean gearbox.
Strong mechanical noise while driving. Check the serviceability of the hydrokinetic transmission. Apply the parking brake and apply the vehicle's hydraulic brake. If the noise is normal in the "N" position, but in the "R" and "D" positions the noise is strong and increases with increasing engine speed, then the hydrokinetic transmission should be replaced. Otherwise, remove and clean the gearbox.
Excessive mechanical noise while driving. Internal mechanical damage to the gearbox requiring its removal.
Sudden appearance during movement of abnormal noises and interruptions in traction. Check oil level. If the level is normal, then check the oil filter. If the oil filter is not too dirty, check the oil pump for damage.
The brake band is not clamped in the "R" and "D" positions with too high idling speed of the engine, as well as with correct gear shifting. Check the oil pressure in the automatic transmission. Check the operation of the reverse gear and forward gear clutch. Check the operation of the rear planetary gear drive.
The brake band does not clamp in the "R" and "D" positions at too high an idle speed of the engine, as well as when the brake bands are correctly clamped in the "D", "2", and "1" positions. Check engine braking in 1st gear. If braking is insufficient, then check the drive of the rear planetary gear. If braking is correct, repair reverse and direct clutch.
The brake bands are not tight enough in the "D" position if the engine idle speed is too high, and also when the brake bands are correctly tightened in the "R" position. Check function in positions "2" and "1". If the operation is normal, then the unidirectional clutch is damaged; the gearbox must be removed and repaired.
Too little acceleration and too low top speed, although the engine is good. Remove the hydrokinetic transmission and check its technical condition.
Too low maximum speed with normal accelerations and a good engine. Check the operation of the automatic transmission at full throttle during acceleration (kick-down). If normal, then remove and check the hydrokinetic transmission, as well as the unidirectional clutch.
Shift gear
Late gear change (accelerator pedal lightly pressed) at speeds above 45 km / h: 1500 - 2000 rpm. Check the connections and condition of the vacuum line and the vacuum regulator. Check regulator. Check 1st-2nd gear valve. If OK, replace the regulator hub gasket.
Late shifting from 1st to 3rd (accelerator pedal slightly depressed) - 1500 - 2000 rpm. Adjust the front planetary brake band. Check pressure. Check the drive of the front planetary gear. Check the valve assembly - 1st-2nd gear valve.
Late shifting from 1st to 3rd (accelerator pedal slightly depressed) - 1500 - 2000 rpm. Check the oil pressure in the automatic transmission. Check regulator. Check the shift lever housing. Check the valve assembly - 2nd-3rd gear valve. Remove and clean gearbox.
In the "D" position, automatic gear shifting does not occur or 3rd gear does not turn on. Check the oil pressure in the automatic transmission. Check regulator. Check the operation of the gear shift mechanism. Check the condition of the regulator hub gasket.
RPM too low when shifting gears "kick-down". Gear shifting is too early. Carry out a pressure test. Adjust the gear reduction cable. Check the condition of the regulator hub gasket.
Incorrect number of gear changes from 1st to 2nd, as well as from 2nd to 3rd (kick-down). Late gear change. Carry out a pressure test. Check the oil level in the automatic transmission. Check regulator. Check the operation of the gear shift mechanism. Check the condition of the regulator hub gasket.
Loud whistle at high engine speeds. Check pump intake, suction lines and automatic transmission oil pump.
In position "D" by depressing the accelerator pedal to the stop ("kick-down") there is no gear change from 3rd to 2nd at a speed of 75 km / h. Adjust the gear reduction cable. Check the oil pressure in the automatic transmission. Check the kick-down valve.
In the "D" position, pressing the accelerator pedal 3/4 of its stroke does not change gears from 3rd to 2nd at a speed of 50 km / h. Check the operation of the gear shift mechanism. Check the oil pressure in the automatic transmission. Check the crankcase of the valve assembly.
At a speed of 90 km/h, when the shift lever is moved from position "D" to position "1", the vehicle does not slow down when passing through position "2". Adjust the front planetary brake band. Check the drive of the front planetary gear. Check the oil pressure in the automatic transmission.
At a speed of 90 km/h, with the shift lever in position "D" in position "1", the vehicle does not slow down when shifting into 1st gear at speeds above 75 km/h. Check regulator. Check the operation of the gear shift mechanism. Check the oil pressure in the automatic transmission.
At a speed of 90 km/h, when the shift lever is moved from position "D" to position "1", the vehicle does not slow down when engaging 1st gear at speeds below 25 km/h. Check the operation of the gear shift mechanism. Check rear planetary drive. Check the oil pressure in the automatic transmission. Check the automatic transmission case and regulator.
Parking
Insufficient braking of the car in the "P" position. Adjust the external gearshift mechanism. Check the parking brake mechanism.

In case of faults nos. 27, 28 and 29, carry out a test while driving: connect a pressure gauge to the gearbox and measure the pressure in the system at a speed of 80 km / h when the gear lever is moved from the position "2" V "1". Oil pressure should increase.
