Checking the rear window and windshield heating (Scorpio 2)

When the rear window or windshield heating is turned on, the glass field with conductors should be free of fog or ice after a while.

In case of a malfunction, first check the condition of the fuse in the fuse box.

If the fuse is OK, then check the reliability of the contacts of the plug connectors on the left and right of the rear window glass, and if necessary, clean the contacts from corrosion.

If the rear window heating is still not working, check the wiring and switch, see p. 153.

Check the operation of the switching relay, see p. 153.

If the rear window filaments are damaged, the electrical circuit can be restored by applying a standard silver-based conductive varnish.

Since the windshield heating filaments are located in a protective film between the outer and inner parts of the glass, it is impossible to repair a broken filament using conductive varnish. Therefore, if a break occurs, the windshield must be replaced.
