Steering column and hazard warning switches

Withdrawal



Disconnect ground wire (-) battery.

Caution: Disconnecting the battery will erase the contents of the electronic memories, such as engine trouble codes or radio codes. Before switching off, also read the instructions in chapter "Removing and installing the battery".


Loosen the screws securing the lower trim of the steering column and remove the trim.

Unscrew the four bolts securing the upper trim of the steering column and remove the trim.

Vehicles up to 1/92: remove the horn button from the steering wheel.

Vehicles from 2/92: remove the steering wheel, see p. 104.

Attention: Strictly follow the safety precautions when working with the airbag.




Vehicles up to 1/92: Turn the steering wheel so that the screws -arrows- of the turn signal/hazard warning light switch or the wiper switch can be accessed.

Loosen the mounting screws and remove the turn signal / hazard warning light switch or wiper switch from the steering column.

Disconnect the multi-pin connector of the switch.

Installation



Connect the multi-pin plug connector of the switch.

Attach the switch to the steering column and tighten.


Vehicles up to 1/92: Install the horn button on the steering wheel.

Cars from 2/92: install the steering wheel, see p. 104.

Fit and bolt upper and lower steering column trims.

Connect ground wire to battery (-).

If available, set the clock and enter the anti-theft code for the radio.

Check the operation of the switches on the steering column.
