Removal
Remove the wheel cap and loosen the hub shaft nut.
Note: The car must be parked with its wheels on the platform.
Loosen the rear wheel mounting nuts on the vehicle while it is parked on the platform. Mark the position of the front wheel on the hub with paint. This will allow the balanced wheel to be installed again in its previous position.
Raise the car onto jack stands and remove the wheel.
Remove the brake caliper and hang it with the brake hose attached on a wire so that the brake hose is not twisted or stretched.
Caution: If the brake hose is disconnected, the brake system will need to be bled after installation. Removing the brake caliper is described on p. 115.
Remove the brake disc, see p. 116.
Loosen the shaft tail nut.
Unscrew the 4 hub mounting bolts and remove it from the shaft end. If the hub cannot be removed by hand, you can use a standard puller with grips.
Installation
Place the hub on the shaft end. Screw in the mounting bolts and tighten them to a torque of 100 Nm.
Tighten the shaft tail nut by hand.
Install the brake disc, see p. 116.
Install the brake caliper, see p. 115.
Screw on the wheel, first ensuring that the marks made before removal match.
Lower the car and tighten the wheel nuts crosswise to a torque of 100 Nm.
Tighten the shaft tail nut to 270 Nm and pin it in place. Using a steel punch, drive the nut flange into the corresponding groove on the thread.
Install the wheel cap.
