Removal
Raise the rear of the car onto jack stands.
Loosen the fastening of the cardan shaft to the drive flange.
Loosen the fastening of the cardan shaft to the flange of the shaft tail and remove the cardan shaft.
Installation
Before installation, check whether water or dirt has penetrated into the cardan joints and whether there is enough grease in them. If necessary, replace the grease or replenish its quantity. The filling volume is 90±10 g.
Caution: Use only FORD grease specification WSD-M1C237-A.
Attach the cardan shaft.
Attention. Since 4/93, vehicles with ABS have been using a cardan shaft with constant velocity joints equipped with additional seals on the outside. Such constant velocity joints can also be installed on vehicles of earlier production. New joints can be recognized by the recess (for sealing) at the flange surface. In this case, the joint with the new seal is placed against the flange.
Tighten the bolts securing the cardan shaft to the drive flange and shaft tail to a torque of 40 Nm.
Lower the car.
