Flywheel — Checking and Installing (Scorpio 1)

            0

1. Check the flywheel for damage, the flywheel ring for wear and damage.

2. If the crown is very worn or has a missing tooth, the crown should be replaced. The old crown can be removed by making a cut between two teeth and then knocking it off with a chisel.

3. Installing a new ring gear on a flywheel requires heating the ring gear to 204°C. This is accomplished by uniformly heating the flywheel with a blowtorch until the heated surfaces acquire a light yellow tint.

Attention! Do not overheat the crown, otherwise its strength properties will be lost.

4. The crown has a beveled inner side of the teeth, which should be facing the starter. When the crown is sufficiently warmed up, quickly install it in place, tapping if necessary, and cool naturally.
