Checking clearances in the timing gears
1. Check the gear teeth for damage or signs of excessive wear, as indicated by noise during operation.
2. The free play between the camshaft gear and the crankshaft gear should not exceed 0.27 mm; this clearance must be checked at four different points around the perimeter of the gear.
