Checking the engine timing 1.1 (Fiesta 2)

            0

In the 1.1 engine, the camshaft is located in the engine housing and is driven by a chain tensioned by a mechanical tensioner.

To set the relative position of the crankshaft and camshaft, use the markings placed on the chain gears. These marks should be opposite each other on the same line when the piston of the first cylinder is at TDC.

The camshaft moves the tappets placed in the holes of the engine housing by rotating its cams. The movement of the tappets is transmitted by rods to the levers and valve stems, which are placed in the cylinder head. The tappets are inserted into the holes from below the engine housing. For this reason, they can only be removed after removing the oil pan.
