Replacing and adjusting the tension of the drive belt (Scorpio 1)

            0

1. Remove the ground wire from the battery.

2. On vehicles with air conditioning, remove the compressor drive belt.

3. On vehicles with OHC engines, loosen the alternator belt tensioner adjustment bar bolts.

4. On vehicles with V6 engines, loosen the mounting bolt and the bolt on the pump adjuster plate. Turn the pump toward the engine and remove the drive belt.

5. Check the condition of the drive belt for cracks, delamination and other mechanical damage and replace if necessary. If two drive belts are installed, both belts must be replaced, even if one of the belts is in good condition.

6. The belt tension is adjusted by turning the generator or pump away from the engine and fixing it in this position by tightening the bolts on the adjustment bar. The belt tension should be such that when pressing the belt with moderate force, the belt deflection is 10 mm.
