Replacing the A/C Compressor Drive Belt

            0

According to the manufacturer's recommendation, the air conditioning compressor drive belt must be changed every 60 thousand km or 6 years of operation (whichever comes first).

You will need: socket head «for 8», key «at 19», a special tool for installing a belt, a knife.

1. Hang the front of the car and place on a secure support. Remove the right front wheel (cm. «Wheel replacement»).

2. Remove the right front fender liner (cm. «Removal and installation of wheel mudguards and fender liner»).

3. Remove the protective casing of the auxiliary drive belts and the air conditioning compressor by unscrewing the socket «for 8» its bolts to the engine.

4. Remove the A/C compressor drive belt by cutting it with a knife.

NOTE: According to the manufacturer's recommendations, the air conditioning compressor drive belt should be cut with a knife for removal, after which the belt becomes unusable. This is due to the fact that the belt, even after being removed without damage, cannot be reused, since it is designed only for one-time stretching when put on pulleys (belt tension adjustment is not provided). In addition, belt replacement is regulated after a certain mileage or service life.

5. Wipe the A/C compressor pulleys and crankshaft with a clean rag to prevent the A/C compressor drive belt from slipping during installation.

6. Establish adaptation for installation of a belt of a drive of the compressor of the conditioner on a pulley of a cranked shaft to the position shown on fig. 4.10.

7. Slide a new belt onto the A/C compressor pulley, pass under the bottom of the crankshaft pulley and install it on the mounting tool as shown in fig. 4.11.

8. Set the transmission lever to neutral position.

9. Turn the engine crankshaft clockwise by the bolt securing its pulley, while guiding the belt into the pulley stream (pic. 4.12) until the belt is put on the pulley (at this point, the belt tension will loosen).

10. Rotate the crankshaft until the mounting tool is not caught by the belt and remove the tool.

NOTE: The device for mounting the drive belt of the air conditioning compressor is disposable, as it is deformed during installation.

11. Rotate the crankshaft one turn and check that the belt is correctly positioned in the pulley grooves. Reinstall the belt if necessary.

12. Install the removed parts in the reverse order of removal.
