SEQUENCE OF WORKS
1. Disconnect the cable from the negative terminal of the battery
2. Raise the front of the vehicle, support it securely on jack stands and remove the right front wheel.
3. If present, unscrew the bolts securing the lower engine casing.
4. In a vehicle with power steering, additionally unscrew the two bolts and remove the power steering pump housing. Otherwise, unscrew the two bolts securing the lower poly V-belt housing and release the clamp on the water hose.

5. After this, release the automatic tensioner by turning the middle bolt of the tension roller to the right (in Zetec-SE engines to the left) until the belt can be removed freely (Fig. 15.9).
6. Before installation, check the dimensions of the new belt, lay it on the pulleys in the same way as the old one. To make the work easier, turn the tension roller bolt to the right (Zetec-SE - to the left) until the belt lies freely on the pulleys.
7. After this, set the tension roller to its original position. The preliminary tension of the belt is enough to start the engine, then after a few revolutions of the crankshaft, the automatic device will correctly tension the belt.
8. Further installation is carried out in the reverse order of removal.
Power steering pump drive belt for Endura-DE engines
1. Loosen the two bolts securing the poly V-belt cover and remove the cover from the power steering pump.
2. Loosen the tension roller mounting bolt.

3. Use tension bolt 1 (Fig. 15.10) to loosen the tension of the poly V-belt.
4. Remove the belt from the pulleys.
5. Install the new belt and tighten it with the tension bolt. The deflection when pressing with your thumb on the new belt should be 1-2 mm. The used belt should deflect under thumb pressure by 1-3 mm.
6. Tighten the tension roller mounting bolt by hand (tightening torque approximately 5–6 N·m).
7. Install the power steering pump housing.
Endura-DE Diesel Engine Generator/Air Conditioning Compressor Drive Belt

1. Loosen bolt 2 (Fig. 15.11) securing the tension roller.
2. Use tension bolt 1 to loosen the belt tension.
3. Remove the belt from the pulleys.
4. Install the new belt.
