Power steering hydraulic pump
1 - pump, 2 - inlet pipeline, 3 - pressure pipeline, 4 - outlet pipeline, 5 - tank, 6 - pulley, 7 - flange, 8 - bearing, 9 - drive shaft, 10 - rotor, 11 - ring
All gasoline engines except DOHC
Power Steering Pump Hinge Bolt on V6 Engine
1. Remove ground wire from battery.
2. Place a suitable container under the hydraulic pump.
3. Cover the alternator with plastic wrap so that fluid from the power steering system does not get on it.
4. Wipe around the connections, then disconnect the high pressure and return pipes from the pump and tank.
5. On the pump, loosen the pulley mounting bolts, remove the V-belt and pulley.
6. Unscrew the bolts for fixing and adjusting the pump and remove the pump.
DOHC engines
Three pump mounting bolts accessible after unscrewing and removing the DOHC engine pump pulley
The pump is suspended on the front right side of the cylinder block. To improve access to the pump, raise and support the front of the vehicle on stands.
1. Place a suitable container under the hydraulic pump, unscrew the pipe couplings and drain the fluid.
2. Remove drive belt.
3. Unscrew the three bolts securing the pulley and remove the pulley from the pump.
4. Unscrew the three pump mounting bolts from the front of the suspension and one bolt from the rear of the suspension and remove the pump.
5. To install the pump, follow the steps in reverse order with respect to the process of removing it. During this process, attention should be paid to:
- correct tension of V-belts;
- installation of new gaskets for hydraulic pipeline connections;
- proper oil filling and bleeding of the steering system.
Vehicles with diesel engines
Connection points of pipelines to the hydraulic pump
1 - pressure pipeline, 2 - discharge pipeline
Hydraulic pump mounting bolts
1 - mounting bolt, 2 - mounting bolts
1. Remove ground wire from battery.
2. Raise the front of the car and secure it on stands.
3. Remove the front mudguard under the engine compartment.
4. Place a suitable container under the hydraulic pump.
5. Loosen the clamp, remove the outlet pipe and drain the oil from the system.
6. Unscrew the clamp and remove the pressure pipe.
7. On the pump, loosen the pulley mounting bolts, remove the V-belt and pulley.
8. Unscrew the adjustment lever from the pump.
