Removal and installation of a cable of a drive of a speedometer

Note: Since 1997 models, there is no speedometer cable, and the electronic speedometer is controlled by a signal from the vehicle speed sensor.

Withdrawal


1. Remove windshield wiper arms (paragraph 15).

2. With the hood closed, release the top edge of the grille directly in front of the windshield. To do this, remove the plugs and unscrew the upper fixing screws.

3. Open the hood and fix it with a rack.

4. Pull out the sealing strip from the transverse panel located at the rear of the engine compartment.

5. Turn out the bottom screws and remove halves of the trellised panel located in front of a windshield, taking first one party, and then another.

6. Disconnect the negative battery cable.

7. Working behind the bulkhead, squeeze the grommet at the top end of the speedometer cable there. where it is connected to the intermediate cable, and remove the grommet from the back of the speedometer head. Disconnect the cable and remove it from the inner panel of the partition along with the rubber bushing (see fig. 12.7, a, b).



8. Apply the parking brake, raise the front end and place it on stands.


9. Turn away a nut and disconnect a cable of a speedometer from the gauge of speed of the car located on transmission. Then remove the cable from the engine compartment. Unscrew the nut with one wrench, hold the sensor with the other (see fig. 12.9, a, b).

10. Installation - in the reverse order of removal.
