Removing and installing the headlight tilt motor (Mondeo 1 and 2)

Removal

1. Before making adjustments, set the system switch to the "O" position.

2. Remove the headlight unit (paragraph 7). Then remove the lid.

3. Disconnect the electric motor electrical connector (see Fig. 9.3).

Models produced before 1996

4. Rotate the electric motor upward so that its axis is approximately 60° with the vertical. Then pull it forward slightly.

5. Disconnect the adjusting shaft by pressing the ball coupling to one side from the socket located on the reflector.

Models produced since 1997

6. Unscrew the screws securing the electric motor on the rear side of the headlight unit and disconnect the ball joint end of the lever drive (see Fig. 9.6, a, b).

All models

7. Remove the motor from the headlight assembly.

Installation

8. Installation - in the reverse order of removal. The engine must be turned down. The system switch must remain in the "O" position. Install the engine and attach the adjustment drive to it. Finally, check the operation of the system and adjust the direction of the headlight beam (paragraph 8).
