Removing and installing the instrument panel (Mondeo 1 and 2)

Removal

1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.

2. Remove the watch (if present) (see paragraph 13).

3. Remove the rear window defroster switch and windshield defroster switch (if equipped) (paragraph 4).

4. On pre-1996 models, remove the fog light indicator assembly located in the vehicle performance monitoring system display unit (see Fig. 10.4).



5. On models produced before 1996, remove all plugs from those places where switches are not installed (see Fig. 10.5).



6. Remove the plugs, then unscrew the mounting screws and remove the instrument panel trim (see Fig. 10.6, a-c).





7. On 1997 and later models with air conditioning, after removing the bezel, remove the O-ring from the interior temperature sensor and disconnect the sensor from the bezel.



8. Remove the mounting screws and separate the instrument panel from the front panel (see Fig. 10.8).



9. Disconnect the two electrical connectors on the rear of the instrument panel (see Fig. 10.9).



10. Remove the instrument cluster. On pre-1996 models, disconnect the speedometer intermediate cable.

Installation

11. Installation - in the reverse order of removal.
