WARNING: To minimize the risk of injury if an air bag deploys prematurely, always carry a charged air bag module with the air bag and bezel facing away from your torso. Failure to follow this instruction may result in injury.

WARNING: To minimize the possibility of premature deployment, charged airbag modules should only be placed on grounded benches with the bezel facing up. Failure to follow these instructions may result in injury.

WARNING: Deploy airbag modules and deploy seat belt pretensioners in well ventilated areas. Failure to follow this instruction may result in injury.

WARNING: Before initiating the deployment of an airbag module or deployment of the seat belt pretensioner, ensure that all personnel working in the vicinity are alerted that a loud noise will be generated (cotton). Don't let anyone get closer than six meters. Failure to follow this instruction may result in injury.

WARNING: Do not touch the airbag module or seat belt pretensioner immediately after deployment/deployment as the airbag module or seat belt pretensioner will be very hot. Failure to follow this instruction may result in injury.

WARNING: After operation, the gas generator (s) becomes safe, but direct contact of pyrotechnic products with the skin or eyes should be avoided. Failure to follow this instruction may result in injury.

WARNING: Always wear protective gloves and goggles when handling deployed airbag modules and seat belt pretensioners. Failure to follow this instruction may result in injury.

WARNING: If the product of the pyrotechnic elements of the air bag module or the seat belt pretensioner gets into the eyes, immediately rinse the eyes thoroughly with clean water and seek medical attention. Failure to follow this instruction may result in injury.

WARNING: If you inhale large amounts of pyrotechnic products from the airbag module or seat belt pretensioner, seek medical attention. Failure to follow this instruction may result in injury.

1. Remove the module (And) airbag intended for deployment. For more information, please refer to the relevant procedure (am), described in this section.
  • 2. Connect the special tools as shown in the figure
  • 1. Battery, 12V

2. Adapter (AC) (Element of the connecting wire for testing/initiating the deployment of the airbag module/pyrotechnical belt pretensioner).

3. Connecting wire (Element of the connecting wire for testing/initiating the deployment of the airbag module/pyrotechnical belt pretensioner).

Single Stage Airbag Modules

3. Connect the connecting wire to the airbag module and to the adapter. For more information, please refer to the Specifications chapter available in this section.

4.
WARNING: To protect the plug connectors of the connecting wires from damage when deploying the module, lift the airbag module off the ground using two blocks of wood.

Place the airbag module inside a suitable rigid wire frame with the airbag module cover facing up (driver airbag shown).

5. Release the adapter's AC button to deploy the driver or passenger airbag module.

6. To deploy the side airbag module, press the adapter's AC button.

7. Move as far as possible away from the airbag module and press both switches to deploy the airbag module.

Two-stage airbag modules

8.
WARNING: DO NOT connect both test leads to the adapter at this stage. The triggering of each gas generator should be carried out separately. Failure to follow this instruction may result in injury.

Connect the test leads to the airbag module and one of the test leads to the adapter. For more information, please refer to the Specifications chapter available in this section.

9.
WARNING: To protect the plug connectors of the connecting wires from damage when deploying the module, lift the airbag module off the ground using two blocks of wood.

Place the airbag module inside a suitable rigid wire frame with the airbag module cover facing up (driver airbag shown).

10. To initiate the deployment of the first inflator of the driver or passenger air bag module, release the AC button on the adapter.

11. Get as far away from the airbag module as possible and press both switches to deploy the airbag module.

12. To initiate deployment of the second driver or passenger airbag module inflator, connect a second test lead to the adapter.

13. Get as far away from the airbag module as possible and press both switches to deploy the airbag module.

Vehicles with seat belt tensioners

14.
NOTE: Some vehicles require the front seat to be removed to access the seat belt pretensioner connector.

Remove the front seat (if necessary). See Section 501-10 for more information.

15. Disconnect the seat belt pretensioner connector from the front seat.

16. Install the front seat (if necessary). See Section 501-10 for more information.

17.
CAUTION: Make sure the front seat mounting bolts are installed.

Connect the connecting cable to the connector on the seat belt pretensioner. For more information, please refer to the Specifications chapter available in this section.

18. To deploy the seat belt pretensioner, press the AC adapter button.

19. Get as far away from the airbag module as possible and press both switches to activate the seat belt pretensioner.

Vehicles with seat belt tensioners.

20. Connect the test lead to the seat belt pretensioner connector.

21. To initiate deployment of the seat belt pretensioner, press the AC button on the adapter.

22. Get as far away from the airbag module as possible and press both switches to activate the seat belt pretensioner.

All cars
