Practical Tire Saving Tips

Do not drive faster than your tires allow. This applies in particular to tires in the M+S category «Q» (160 km/h). Too high a speed contributes to increased abrasion, in the worst case even tire explosion.

Avoid driving at maximum speed with a heavily loaded vehicle. Check tire heating: if the tire has hand temperature, then everything is fine with it. A hot tire is dangerous: most often, the air pressure is too low or the carcass is damaged. Do not trust these tires on the road - at least until a tire specialist has checked the carcass for possible damage.

If you frequently drive at high speeds on the Autobahn, fit tires with a speed rating one grade higher than the one required on the vehicle's data sheet (for example, T instead of S, etc.).

Make sure that the side of the tire does not hit the curb when parking. Always roll over curbs and thresholds slowly and at right angles.

Always increase the air pressure in the tires by 0.3 bar - this saves fuel and does not harm the tyres.

Proper wheel replacement

If you use an unused spare tire when you change your tires for the first time, you will save cash, as long as the product still comes with the same profile. In this case, buy another tire to the spare, and you have new tires on one axle. However, you can increase the mileage of your tires by regularly swapping the wheels on one side of the car, i.e. not crosswise. This will wear your tires more evenly, and your next purchase will have four fresh tires on your car. The disadvantage of this method: when replacing after short runs, you will no longer be able to clearly recognize possible defects in the wheel suspension, steering and shock absorbers from the tire profile. When exchanging tyres, always make sure that tires of the same make, profile and date of manufacture are used in pairs on the axle (±1 year).
