Control signs for setting the ignition timing angle
1 – constant sign, 2 – TDC sign of the piston of the 1st cylinder on the pulley
1. Connect the strobe lamp in accordance with its operating instructions.
2. Disconnect the vacuum line from the ignition distributor (Bosch distributor).
3. Start the engine, warm it up and leave it at idle speed. Check the engine idle speed value.
4. Check the ignition timing by pointing the lamp at the pulley.
5. If the ignition advance angle value is determined to be inconsistent with the requirements, loosen the fastening of the ignition distributor and, by turning it in the appropriate direction, set the sign of the correct ignition advance angle value with a constant sign of 1. In ONS engines, deeper notches on the pulley flange are located every 4°, and small notches are located in their axis of symmetry (allowing the angle to be set as a multiple of 2°).
6. Fix the ignition distributor and check the ignition timing.
