Setting the ignition timing

Control signs for setting the ignition timing

1. Connect the strobe lamp in accordance with its instruction manual.

2. Disconnect the vacuum line from the ignition distributor (Bosch distributor).

3. Start the engine, warm it up and leave it idling. Check the value of the engine idle speed.

4. Check the ignition timing by pointing the bulb at the pulley.

5. If the value of the ignition advance angle is determined not to meet the requirements, loosen the ignition distributor and, turning it in the appropriate direction, set the sign of the correct value of the ignition advance angle with a constant sign 1. In ONS engines, deeper notches on the pulley flange are located at 4°, and fine notches are in their axis of symmetry (allowing the angle to be set in multiples of 2°).

6. Fix the ignition distributor and check the setting of the ignition timing.
