Removal and installation the subsequent muffler (Scorpio 2)

Removal

If a two-piece exhaust system is installed, disconnect the intermediate pipe at the designated locations, see the illustrations on page 10. 79, 80. The two-piece exhaust system is installed at the factory.

Note: A standard pipe release chain cutter such as the HAZET4682 is best suited for disconnecting.

If a three-piece exhaust system is installed, unscrew the U-shaped bracket "B" and detach the subsequent muffler from the retaining loop.

Remove the subsequent muffler using rotational movements. If the rear exhaust pipe does not come off, heat the joint with a welding torch, if available.

Note: In this case, cover the fuel tank with sheet asbestos.

If there is no welding torch, disconnect the exhaust pipe with a hacksaw or abrasive wheel. Saw the remaining piece of pipe on the intermediate pipe lengthwise and knock it off with a chisel.

Installation

To make it easier to loosen the exhaust system nuts and bolts later, it is recommended to lubricate them with a high-temperature paste, such as Liqui Moly LM-508-ASC.

Install a new subsequent muffler, align and secure with a bracket (spare part).



Install new retaining loops.

Tighten the mounting bracket nuts to a torque of 40 Nm.

Lower the car.
