Handling of catalytic converters in vehicles (Scorpio 2)

            0

To avoid damage to the oxygen sensor and catalytic converter, it is imperative that you follow the instructions below.

Petrol engines

Be sure to refuel with unleaded gasoline only.

Do not push or tow a warmed-up engine. If necessary, jump-start the engine using another vehicle's battery. If unburned fuel gets into the catalytic converter, it can cause overheating and destruction of the catalytic converter during a flash. Use jumper cables.

Never turn off the ignition while driving.

If difficulties with starting arise, do not keep the starter on for a long time. Fuel is constantly injected during starting. Determine the cause of the malfunction and eliminate it.

Never empty the tank of fuel completely.

If misfires occur, avoid high engine speeds and immediately correct the problem.

Use only standard spark plugs.

Check for the presence of a spark with the spark plug tip removed, after first removing the fuel pump relay.

Petrol and diesel engines

When filling and refilling the engine oil level, pay special attention to the fact that the maximum permissible oil level is never exceeded. Otherwise, as a result of incomplete combustion, excess oil gets into the catalytic converter and can damage the noble metal or completely destroy the converter.

Do not park the vehicle over dry leaves or grass. The exhaust system in the area of the catalytic converter is very hot and radiates heat even after the engine has stopped. Risk of fire!
