Handling vehicle catalytic converters

            0

To avoid damage to the oxygen sensor and catalytic converter, the following instructions must of course be followed.

Gasoline engines

Be sure to use unleaded gasoline only.

It is not allowed to start an engine warmed up to operating temperature by pushing or towing. If necessary, start the engine from the battery of another vehicle. Once in the catalytic converter, unburned fuel in a flashover can overheat and destroy the catalytic converter. Use jump leads.

Never turn off the ignition while driving.

If you have difficulty starting, do not keep the starter turned on uselessly for a long time. When starting, fuel is constantly injected. Determine the cause of the malfunction and eliminate.

Never run out of fuel in the tank completely.

If misfiring occurs, avoid high engine speeds and repair the fault immediately.

Use only standard spark plugs.

Perform a spark test with the spark plug tip removed. removing the fuel pump relay.

Gasoline and diesel engines

When filling and topping up the engine oil level, pay special attention to ensure that the maximum permissible oil level is never exceeded. Otherwise, as a result of incomplete combustion, excess oil enters the catalytic converter and can damage the precious metal or completely destroy the converter.

Do not park your vehicle over dry leaves and grass. The exhaust system in the area of the catalytic converter is very hot and radiates heat even after the engine has stopped. Fire hazard!
