Handling vehicles equipped with catalytic converters (Mondeo 1)

            0

To prevent failure of the oxygen sensor and catalytic converter, it is necessary to strictly adhere to the following provisions:

Petrol engines

Fill your tank with unleaded gasoline only.

Do not start a warm engine by pushing or towing the vehicle. Use a jumper cable to connect the starter to an auxiliary battery. Unburned fuel at the moment of ignition can cause the catalytic converter to overheat and fail.

If you have problems starting the engine, do not keep the starter on for too long unnecessarily, as fuel is injected when the starter is engaged. Find the fault and fix it.

Never burn every last drop of fuel from the fuel tank.

If spark failure occurs, do not run the engine at high speed, find the fault and fix it.

Use only the specified spark plug type.

You cannot check the spark by removing the spark plug caps.

You cannot perform a cylinder balance test by turning off the ignition in one cylinder. If you turn off the ignition in one cylinder - also through the engine tester - unburned fuel gets into the catalyst.

Petrol and diesel engines

Do not park the vehicle on dry leaves or grass. The exhaust system in the area of the catalytic converter is very hot and continues to emit heat even after the engine is turned off.
