Note: in accordance with German law, the carburetor screw, which can change the composition of exhaust gases, is protected from unauthorized access.
The protective cap is removed with tongs or a screwdriver. In some cases, it is advisable to screw a screw with a diameter of approximately 2 mm into the protective cap, and then use forceps to remove the cap by this screw. In this case, the protective cap is destroyed. After adjustment, the adjusting screw must be closed with a new cap (from spare parts for the corresponding carburetor).
As soon as the exhaust gas values no longer correspond to the prescribed values, the vehicle operating permit becomes invalid. If the carburetor does not have a protective cap, then when checking the car with an automobile inspection, penalties may be imposed.
Attention: When working on the carburetor and fuel lines, the safety and cleanliness rules for working on fuel supply systems must be strictly observed, see p. 54.
