Note: In accordance with German law, the carburetor screw, which can be used to change the composition of the exhaust gases, is protected from unauthorized access.
The protective cap is removed with pliers or a screwdriver. In some cases, it is advisable to screw a screw of approximately 2 mm in diameter into the protective cap and then remove the cap with pliers by this screw. In this case, the protective cap is destroyed. After adjustment, the adjusting screw must be closed with a new cap (from spare parts for the corresponding carburetor).
As soon as the exhaust gas values no longer correspond to the prescribed values, the permit for operating the vehicle becomes invalid. If the carburetor does not have a protective cap, then when the vehicle is checked by the traffic police, fines may be imposed.
Attention: When working with the carburetor and fuel lines, it is necessary to strictly observe safety and cleanliness regulations when working with fuel supply systems, see p. 54.
