General information about the body of the Scorpio I car (Scorpio 2)

            0

The body of FORD SCORPIO cars is of the monocoque type. The bottom, sides, roof, front and rear fenders are welded to each other. The front and rear window glass is glued. Repair of large body damage and replacement of glued window glass should be performed at a service station.

The engine compartment hood, the rear door or the trunk lid, and the side doors are bolted on and can be easily replaced. When installing, it is essential to maintain gaps in the joints, otherwise, for example, the door may jam, or increased wind noise may occur when driving. The gaps between the body parts must be the same along their entire length.

Safety precautions when performing bodywork

No welding or soldering work may be carried out on or near parts of a filled air conditioning system. This also applies to welding and soldering work on a vehicle if there is a risk of heating up parts of the air conditioning system during the work.

Caution: Do not open the refrigerant circuit of the air conditioning system.

Remove the protective coating from the bottom of the vehicle and sealing materials from the repaired areas using a rotating wire brush or heat with hot air to a temperature no higher than +180°C and scrape off with a spatula.

When repairing paintwork, it is permissible to heat the car in a drying chamber or preheating zone to a temperature no higher than +80°C. If the specified temperature is exceeded, the electronic control units in the car may fail.
