Throttle body (1.6L Zetec-SE/1.4L)

Removal

CAUTION: Do not attempt to clean the throttle body. The bore and throttle plate have a special coating applied during manufacture that must not be removed.

1. Disconnect the air cleaner outlet pipe.



2. Disconnect the throttle position (TP) sensor electrical connector. Release the wiring harness from the clamp.



3. Disconnect the throttle body.



4. Disconnect the accelerator cable.

• 1. Unfold the accelerator cable.
• 2. Remove the clamp.
• 3. Disconnect the accelerator cable.

5. Remove the throttle body.

6. Remove the throttle body gasket and discard it as no longer needed.

Installation

CAUTION: Do not attempt to clean the throttle body. The bore and throttle plate have a special coating applied during manufacture that must not be removed.

NOTE: Install a new gasket onto the throttle body.

NOTE: Follow the correct throttle body tightening sequence.

Install the elements back in place in reverse order.
