Fuel injection system wiring harness (1.6L Zetec-SE/1.4L)

Spark Plug Pliers 303-622 (21-226)

Removal

1. Relieve fuel system pressure. Refer to Section 303-00 for additional information.

2. Disconnect the ground cable from the battery.

3. Disconnect the engine ventilation hose from the engine cover.



4. Disconnect the idle air control (IAC) valve electrical connector.



5. Disconnect the throttle position (TP) sensor electrical connector.




6. Release the wiring harness from the clamp.



7. Disconnect the fuel lines from the engine cover.



8. Remove the engine cover.

CAUTION: When disconnecting the spark plug connector, do not pull on the wire. Do not rotate the connector to avoid damaging the spark plug seal.

Disconnect the wires from the spark plugs. Use a special tool.



10. Disconnect the cylinder head temperature sensor connector.



11. Disconnect the camshaft position sensor connector.



12. Disconnect the electrical connector of the fuel injection system wiring harness.



13. Disconnect the fuel injector electrical connectors.

Installation

1. Install the elements back in place in reverse order.
