Removal and installation of a radiator

Fastening the lower radiator hoses, transmission oil cooling element and hose to the expansion tank

A - fixing the lower radiator hoses,
B - transmission oil cooling element,
C - hose to expansion tank

1. Drain the coolant from the radiator. It is not necessary to drain the coolant from the cylinder block. On DOHC engines, remove the electric fan to increase the clearance for removing the radiator.

2. Remove the hoses from the radiator by loosening the hose clamps and pull the hoses off by turning.

3. On OHC models, disconnect the hose connecting the expansion tank to the radiator.

4. On vehicles with automatic transmission, disconnect the transmission oil coolers at the radiator (The illustration shows the top connection of the transmission oil cooler on the radiator).

5. On vehicles with air conditioning, disconnect the auxiliary fan thermal switch. If the thermal switch is installed on the radiator, remove it.

6. Remove the upper part of the fan shroud by unscrewing the two bolts and disconnecting the two clips, and remove the lower part of the fan shroud by unscrewing the two screws.

7. Disconnect the two upper radiator mounting clips by pulling out the plastic plugs.

8. Raise the front of the car and unscrew the two lower radiator mounting bolts (the lower mounting bolt is indicated by an arrow).

9. Slightly lower the radiator to release the upper mount, then remove the radiator, removing it from under the car.

10. To install the radiator, follow the steps in reverse order with respect to the process of removing it. After installing the pipelines of the cooling system, fill the system with coolant and remove air from it.
