Removing, checking and installing fuel injectors

            0

Signs of bad injectors:
  • difficult engine start;
  • unstable engine operation;
  • the engine stalls at idle;
  • increased idle speed of the crankshaft;
  • the engine does not develop full power, insufficient engine acceleration;
  • jerks and failures in the operation of the engine when the car is moving;
  • increased fuel consumption;
  • increased content of CO and CH in the exhaust gases;
  • glow ignition due to leaky nozzles.

You will need: socket head «on 10», flat blade screwdriver, autotester.

1. Reduce the pressure in the supply system (see «Reducing the pressure in the power system»).

2. Disconnect the wire from the terminal «minus» battery.

3. Remove the air filter (see «Removal and installation of the air filter»).

4. Squeeze the clamps and disconnect the wiring harness pads from the nozzle.

Note. Pads with a wiring harness are removed in a special case.

5. With a car tester in ohmmeter mode, measure the resistance of the injector winding. At 20°C it should be 14 ohms. If the injector winding resistance is not correct, replace the injector as it is beyond repair.

Note. Check the nozzle for the shape of the sprayed fuel jet and for leaks at specialized service stations, since such a check directly on the car is very fire hazardous.

6. To replace injectors Remove the two fuel rail mounting bolts.

7. Remove the rail by removing the nozzles from the holes in the intake pipe and without disconnecting the pipeline from the rail.

8. Press the ends of the retainer with a screwdriver..

9.... and remove the nozzle assembly with the retainer.

10. Remove the nozzle from the retainer.

Attention! Replace the rubber o-rings with new ones each time the injectors are removed.

11. To replace injector O-rings take them off the sprayer..

12.... and from the nozzle body. After installing new rings, lubricate them with engine oil.

13. If you are installing the old injectors, carefully wash their nozzles with solvent or carburetor cleaner.

Attention! It is not allowed to wash the nozzles by dipping into the detergent composition, as this will damage their electrical part.

14. Install the parts in the reverse order of removal.
