Removal, troubleshooting and installation of the flywheel

            0

The flywheel is removed to replace the crankshaft rear oil seal, to replace if the toothed rim is damaged, and to grind the surface for the clutch disc.

You will need: the tools needed to remove the gearbox and clutch, as well as a "17" socket head, a large screwdriver.

1. Remove the gearbox (see Removing and installing transmission).

2. Remove the clutch (see Clutch removal and installation).

3. Turn out six bolts of fastening of a flywheel. At the same time, with a mounting blade, hold the flywheel from turning by first inserting one of the gearbox mounting bolts into the hole in the engine oil sump.

4. Remove the flywheel.

5. Check the condition of the teeth of the flywheel rim, if they are damaged, replace the flywheel.

6. Replace or repair the flywheel if there are marks and scratches on the contact surfaces of the clutch disc..

7….or crankshaft flange.

8. You can check and repair the flywheel in a workshop with special equipment. The flywheel runout, measured on the ring gear, should not exceed 0.5 mm. To remove deep scratches and scuffs, the contact surface of the driven disk can be ground, and the thickness of the layer of metal being removed should not be more than 0.3 mm.

9. Establish a flywheel and all removed knots in sequence, return to removal.

Lubricate the threads of the flywheel mounting bolts with an anaerobic thread locker, having previously degreased the bolts and the threaded holes for them. Tighten the bolts evenly in a criss-cross pattern in two steps: 1st - tighten to 30 Nm (3 kgf·m); 2nd - additionally tighten by an angle of 80°.

NOTE: The flywheel can only be installed in one position by aligning the extra hole in the flywheel with the pin pressed into the crankshaft flange.

GOOD ADVICE: Whenever possible, replace the flywheel mounting bolts with new ones whenever possible.
