Checking the cuffs of the drive shafts

            0

PROCEDURE
  1. Put the front of the car with free hanging wheels on the goats.
  2. Turn the steering wheel all the way to the left and right. Rotate the wheel external to the turn by hand and at the same time check the outer cuff for small cracks and brittle places. If dirt or dampness has stagnated in the hinges, then scrapping the hinge is only a matter of time. To check the inner cuffs, you will have to lie under the front wheels and have an assistant rotate the wheels slowly.
  3. Check the fit of the clamping clamps.
  4. Wet marks on the cuffs are absolutely accurate harbingers: as soon as possible, establish the cause and source. Otherwise the hinge is long «won't live». Internal joints are filled at the factory with 125 g of special grease. A new filling of the outer joints is 100 g, when replacing the seal, 60 g of MoS2 grease is sufficient. Ford uses the SM-1C75-A or SQN-1C9004-A specifications.

When checking the protective sleeves of the drive shafts, it is also necessary to check the firm fit of the outer 1 and clamping collars 2. Using the side cutter, the tape clamps of the hole tape are tightened (indicated by an arrow). To do this, a protrusion in the form of a flattened «ABOUT» bend towards the clamping band and with the side cutter, clamp firmly so as not to crush the cuff. The drive shaft must be clean at the seal seat.
