Exhaust manifold — removal and installation (Focus 1)

Removal

1. Raise the vehicle. Refer to Section 100-02 for additional information.

2. Disconnect the exhaust manifold bracket and disconnect the heated oxygen sensor (HO2S) connectors.



3. Lower the vehicle.

4. Remove the heat shield.



5. Disconnect the exhaust manifold from the catalytic converter.



6. Disconnect the exhaust manifold from the cylinder head.

Installation

1. Connect the exhaust manifold to the cylinder head.



2.

NOTE: Replace the gasket.

Connect the exhaust manifold to the catalytic converter.



3. Install the heat shield.



4. Raise the vehicle. Refer to Section 100-02 for additional information.



5. Tighten the exhaust manifold bracket and connect the HO2S sensor connectors.



6. Lower the vehicle.
