Removal


1. Remove the timing belt. For more information, refer to the Timing Belt chapter in this section.

2. Remove the pulleys from the camshafts. Unscrew the bolts.

3. Remove both front camshaft bearing caps. Remove the camshaft oil seals.

3. Remove both front camshaft bearing caps. Remove the camshaft oil seals.


Installation


1. Apply a thin layer of sealant to the camshaft bearing caps.

2. Install both front camshaft bearing caps.


  • 1st stage: 10 Nm
  • 2nd stage: 19 Nm

2nd stage: 19 Nm


3. Install the camshaft oil seals.
  • Apply engine oil to the camshafts and oil seal lips.
  • Install a new oil seal. Use a special tool, washer and bolt M10x70.

NOTE: The camshaft pulleys must turn freely on the camshafts. Do not tighten the bolts.

  • Install the pulleys.

Install the pulleys.


4. Install the new timing belt. For more information, refer to the Timing Belt chapter in this section.
