Removal
1. Standard preparatory procedures:
- Write down the radio key code.
- Record preset radio stations.
CAUTION: Disconnect the battery ground cable.
2. Raise the vehicle. Refer to Section 100-02 for additional information.
3. Disconnect the gear selector and shift cables from the transmission.
- Remove the gear shift cable by turning the support ring counterclockwise.
- Lower the car.
4. Move the selector and shift levers on the gearbox to the neutral position (both levers should be in the vertical position).
5. Disconnect the flange connection of the exhaust system and detach the system from the rubber supports.
6. Detach the heat shield and slide it back.
- Release the shift and selector cables from the floor clamps.
7. Lower the vehicle.
8. Remove the gear shift lever cover.
- 1. Release the lid.
- 2. Remove the gear shift knob. Remove the damping bushings and compression spring.
- Disconnect the connectors (the number and configuration depends on the specific equipment).
9. Remove the center console.
10. Remove the rear footwell heater duct.
11. Disconnect the shift and select cables from the gear shift lever.
- Remove the shift and select cables by turning the support rings counterclockwise.
12. Cut the mat and cushioning and fold them aside (shown with the heat exchanger removed).
13. Disconnect the shift cable channel from the floor and route the cables into the passenger compartment (shown with the heat exchanger removed).
Installation
1. Install the elements in place in the reverse order (shown with the heat exchanger removed).

3. Adjust the shift and gear selector cables.

4. Standard finishing operations:
- Connect the ground wire to the battery.
- Enter the radio key code.
- Reprogram preset radio stations.
- Set the clock.
- Perform a road test to allow the PCM to learn the data.
