Engine installation with automatic transmission

Special tool

	Engine lift tool 303-122 (21068A)
	Coolant hose clamp remover/installer 303-397 (24-003)

General equipment:

• Repair shop crane
• rolling jack

Installation

All cars

1. Check the installation depth of the torque converter.

• 1. Attach a ruler to the automatic transmission flange.
• 2. Measure the distance between the automatic transmission flange and the torque converter and correct if necessary.

2. Apply a thin coat of high temperature grease to the torque converter center lug.

3. Gently guide the engine into the engine compartment.

4. Connect the engine to a transmission.

5. Install the gearbox flange upper bolts.



6. Install the front engine mount.




7. Disconnect the special tool.



8. Raise the vehicle. Refer to Section 100-02 for more information. Pull the jack out from under the gearbox towards the front of the car.

9. Install the gearbox flange lower bolts.



10. Install the gearbox flange lower bolts.



11. Connect the torque converter to the drive plate.




12. Lower the car.

13. Connect a cable of a choice of transfers to a transmission.



14. Connect fuel lines. See Section 310-00 for more information.

NOTE: Use a new exhaust manifold gasket.

Connect the exhaust manifold (shown from below).



16. Connect exhaust manifold heat shield and engine ground cable.

17. Raise the vehicle. See Section 100-02 for more information.

18. Connect an exhaust manifold to a reception exhaust pipe. Connect the exhaust manifold to the cylinder head.



19. Disconnect the temporary coiled tubing support.

20. Connect the heated oxygen sensor connector (HO2S).



Vehicles with an air conditioning system.


21. Install the bracket and power steering pump along with the drive belt tensioner.



22. Install the power steering high pressure pipe bracket.



All cars

23. Connect the engine roll limiter.

NOTE: Replace clip and nuts on intermediate bearing.

NOTE: Install front drive axle with countershaft (continuation).

Replace clip and nuts on intermediate bearing.



25. Connect the ball joint for the right lower suspension arm.



Vehicles with air conditioning

26. Connect the air conditioning compressor (four bolts). Remove the clamp.



Vehicles without air conditioning

27. Install the power steering pump with base plate. Remove the clamp.



All cars

28. Connect the lines to the oil cooler.



29. Connect starter ground cable.



30. Put on the drive belt and tighten it (shown car with air conditioning system).



31. Install the drive belt cover.



32. Lower the car.

33. Install the transmission fluid dipstick in the automatic transmission and install the bolt.



34. Connect the vacuum hoses to the EVAP solenoid valve.



35. Dock the plug connector of the engine wiring harness.



36. Connect electrical wiring to the generator.

• positive cable.
• Connect the plug connector.

37. Fix a reservoir of the amplifier of a steering.



38. Install the expansion tank coolant hose.



39. Install the coolant hose.



40. Connect the heater coolant hose.



41. Connect the hoses and dock the plug connector.

• 1.Vacuum hose - fuel pressure control
• 2.Vacuum hose for brake booster

42. Connect the plug connector of the crankshaft position sensor (SKR sensor).



43. Connect the power steering hydraulic line bracket.



44. Connect the carbon filter vacuum line.



45. Connect the coolant and heating hoses.

• 1.Coolant bottle hose
• 2.Heater hose
• 3.Coolant hose

46. Connect the plug connector.

• 1.Ignition coil (EI)
• 2.Condenser

47. Connect the accelerator cable.

• 1.Fix the clamp.
• 2. Screw the cable into the bracket.

48. Block it from turning with a socket wrench.



49. Install the inlet pipeline.



50. Install the air filter with air intake hose.

• 1. Air intake hose.
• 2.Connect the plug connector of the mass air flow sensor (MAF).
• Connect the PCV hose to the cylinder head.

51. Install the battery tray.

• 1.Fix and connect the plug connector.
• 2.Tighten the bolts.
• 3.Fix the wiring harness.
• Install the battery. See Section 414-01 for more information.

52. Install the air filter with air intake hose.

• 1. Air intake hose.
• 2.Connect the MAF sensor connector (MAF sensor).
• 3. Connect the PCV hose to the cylinder head.

53. If necessary, install a new oil filter and add engine oil to specification.

54. Standard final operations:

• Refill coolant. Refer to Section 303-03 for more information.
• Check engine oil level.
• Check fluid levels again and correct if necessary.
