General equipment:
- Repair zone crane
- Rolling jack
Installation
All cars
1. Check the installation depth of the torque converter.
- 1. Place a ruler on the automatic transmission flange.
- 2. Measure the distance between the automatic transmission flange and the torque converter and adjust it if necessary.
2. Apply a thin layer of high temperature grease to the torque converter centering lug.
3. Carefully guide the engine into the engine compartment.
4. Connect the engine to the gearbox.
5. Install the upper transmission flange bolts.
6. Install the front engine mount.
7. Remove the special tool.
8. Raise the vehicle. Refer to Section 100-02 for additional information. Extend the jack from under the transmission toward the front of the vehicle.
9. Install the lower transmission flange bolts.
10. Install the lower transmission flange bolts.
11. Connect the torque converter to the drive disc.
12. Lower the vehicle.
13. Connect the gear selector cable to the gearbox.
14. Connect the fuel lines. Refer to Section 310-00 for additional information.

NOTE: Use a new exhaust manifold gasket.
Connect the exhaust manifold (shown from below).
16. Connect the exhaust manifold heat shield and engine ground cable.

17. Raise the vehicle. Refer to Section 100-02 for additional information.
18. Connect the exhaust manifold to the exhaust pipe. Connect the exhaust manifold to the cylinder head.
19. Disconnect the temporary flexible pipe support.
20. Connect the heated oxygen sensor (HO2S) connector.
Cars with air conditioning system.
21. Install the bracket and power steering pump together with the drive belt tensioner.
22. Install the power steering high pressure line bracket.
All cars
23. Connect the engine roll limiter.

NOTE: Replace the clamp and nuts on the intermediate bearing.
NOTE: Install the front drive axle shaft with intermediate shaft (continued).
Replace the clamp and nuts on the intermediate bearing.
25. Connect the ball joint for the right lower control arm.
Cars with air conditioning system
26. Connect the air conditioning compressor (four bolts). Remove the clamp.
Cars without air conditioning
27. Install the power steering pump with the support plate. Remove the clamp.
All cars
28. Connect the lines to the oil cooler.
29. Connect the starter ground cable.
30. Install the drive belt and tighten it (vehicle with air conditioning system shown).
31. Install the drive belt cover.
32. Lower the vehicle.
33. Install the transmission fluid dipstick into the automatic transmission and install the bolt.
34. Connect the vacuum hoses to the EVAP solenoid valve.
35. Connect the engine wiring harness plug connector.
36. Connect the electrical wiring to the generator.
- Positive cable.
- Connect the plug connector.
37. Secure the power steering fluid reservoir.
38. Install the coolant hose of the expansion tank.
39. Install the coolant hose.
40. Connect the heater coolant hose.
41. Connect the hoses and fit the plug connector.
- 1.Vacuum hose - fuel pressure control
- 2. Brake booster vacuum hose
42. Connect the plug connector of the crankshaft position sensor (CKP sensor).
43. Connect the power steering hydraulic line bracket.
44. Connect the carbon filter vacuum line.
45. Connect the coolant and heating hoses.
- 1. Coolant expansion tank hose
- 2.Heater hose
- 3.Coolant hose
46. Connect the plug connector.
- 1. Ignition coil (EI)
- 2. Capacitor
47. Connect the accelerator cable.
- 1. Fix the clamp.
- 2. Screw the cable into the bracket.
48. Lock it from turning using a socket wrench.
49. Install the intake manifold.
50. Install the air filter with the air intake hose.
- 1.Air intake hose.
- 2. Connect the mass air flow (MAF) sensor connector.
- Connect the PCV hose to the cylinder head.
51. Install the battery tray.
- 1. Fix and connect the plug connector.
- 2. Tighten the bolts.
- 3. Secure the wiring harness.
- Install the battery. For additional information, refer to Section 414-01.
52. Install the air filter with the air intake hose.
- 1.Air intake hose.
- 2. Connect the mass air flow sensor (MAF sensor) connector.
- 3.Connect the PCV hose to the cylinder head.
53. If necessary, install a new oil filter and fill the engine oil according to specification.
54. Standard finishing operations:
- Fill with coolant. Refer to Section 303-03 for additional information.
- Check the engine oil level.
- Check the fluid levels again and adjust them if necessary.
