Carbon filter for fuel vapor control system (Focus 1)

Removal

1.

WARNING: Do not smoke or carry a lighted cigarette or open flame of any kind when working with or near fuel-related items. Highly flammable mixtures are always present and may ignite. Failure to follow these instructions may result in personal injury.

Disconnect the ground cable from the battery.

2. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Section 100-02 for additional information.

3. Disconnect the fuel tank fuel vapor hose from the carbon canister.



4. Disconnect the cleaning line.

NOTE: Use a flat-tipped tool to press the clamp.

Press the carbon filter retaining clips.



6. Remove the carbon filter.

Installation

Install the elements back in place in reverse order.
