Inspection and verification


1. Clarify the customer's complaint by checking whether the system is working properly.

2. Check visually for obvious signs of mechanical or electrical damage.

Mechanical factors:
  • Air filter inlet pipe
  • Air filter
  • Air filter element
  • Air filter outlet pipe

3. If an obvious cause for the problem you have identified or the customer has described is found, correct it (if possible) before proceeding with further actions.

4. If the cause of the malfunction is not obvious, clarify the malfunction and refer to the malfunction symptoms table

•Cracked or damaged air filter

• CHECK the quality of the connection of the elements of the air distribution and filtration system and the presence of leaks in the system. If necessary, install new elements. CHECK the correct operation of the system.

•Oil in the air filter

• Positive Crankcase Ventilation (PCV)

•Vehicles with 1.8L/2.0L/1.6L Zetec-E engine. For additional information, refer to Section 303-08A / 303-08B.

•Vehicles with 1.8L Diesel EngineRefer to Section 303-08A / 303-08B for additional information.

•Water in the air filter

•Disconnecting the air filter intake pipe.

•Clogging of the air filter drain.

•CHECK the quality of the air filter intake manifold fastening. Clean the air filter. Check the correct operation of the system.
