Inspection and verification

1. Check the customer complaint.

2. Visually inspect for the following mechanical and electrical causes of the complaint.

Visual inspection table

Mechanical factors

Electrical factors

– Trip computer module

– Operating mechanism of the control switch located on the steering column

– Loose or corroded connectors

– Plug connections

3. Perform a self-test using the self-test table.

4. If the test fails, run diagnostics using WDS.

Pinpoint tests

Press and hold the S button for 5 seconds after turning on the ignition to activate the self-test mode. You can then perform individual tests sequentially by pressing the S button the required number of times. To exit the self-test mode at any time, press the R button.

Description of verification stages

Number of presses of the S button (in self-test mode)

Turn on the backlight of all displays and segments. The sound signal generator transmits a request signal (0.13 seconds long, every two seconds).

1

Turn on the backlight of all displays and segments. The sound signal generator is switched off.

2

Requirement: The vehicle is moving. Turn off all displays and segments. The display shows "km/h". The input signal level from the vehicle speed sensor (VSS) is evaluated, the number of pulses is divided by 50 and displayed on the display in discrete form from "000" to "999".

3

Requirement: Engine running. "L/h" appears on the display. The input signal from the PCM (fuel supply flow) is evaluated, the number of pulses is divided by 10 and displayed on the display.

4

The display shows "ШL/100km". The display shows the calculated value of average fuel consumption.

5

The "Fuel Pump" symbol appears on the display. The value sent by the fuel level sensor is displayed directly on the display in liters and/or gallons. If there is an open circuit in the fuel flow sensor circuit, the display shows "OC". If there is a short circuit in the fuel flow sensor circuit, the display shows "SC".

6

The display shows "—→ Fuel pump symbol" and the reference voltage value for the fuel gauge sensor.

7

The display shows the designation "MPG", the currently programmed correction factor for the feed flow value (the value can be calibrated in the range from -25 to +25).

8

The display shows "°C" and the outside temperature is displayed directly. "OC" is displayed if the value drops below -40°C or if there is a break in the electrical circuit. "SC" is displayed if the value rises above 65°C or if there is a break in the electrical circuit.

9

The input voltage of the instrument light dimmer is compared with the internal value. If the comparison result is positive, the display shows "HI"; if the comparison result is negative, "LO" is displayed.

10

Measures the battery voltage. The display shows "Lbt" if the value is less than 11.5 V, and the display shows "Hbt" if the value is more than 11.5 V.

11

Display "r8.8" The display shows the current ROM version (example: 2.9)

12

Self-examination starts from the beginning.
