Power supply

The battery saver automatically turns off the interior lights that come on when the doors are opened after 10 minutes. The timer starts counting down when the ignition is switched to the OFF or ACC position, and when the countdown time has elapsed, the interior lights automatically turn off.



The battery saver automatically switches off the demand lighting and warning sounds after 30 minutes. The timer starts when the ignition is switched to the OFF or ACC position, and when the countdown time has elapsed, the demand lighting and warning sounds are automatically switched off.

If one of the following vehicle effects is detected while the battery saver has disabled the door lock interior lighting, request interior lighting and/or warning chimes, the above functions will be reactivated and the battery saver timer will start a new countdown.

• The ignition is switched to the START/RUN position or
• any door (including the tailgate) becomes slightly open or closes or
• unlocking of any door is activated.

The battery saver is also activated when the service mode or diagnostic mode is entered.

Power on reset strategy:

The functions are enabled if after resetting the power on...

• the ignition is switched to the START/RUN position or
• any door (including the tailgate) becomes ajar or opens or
• the car is unlocked.

Outdoor lighting

Direction indicators and hazard warning lights

The direction indicator lighting includes:

• left and right front turn signals;
• left and right side turn signal repeaters;
• left and right rear direction indicators (yellow);
• left and right turn signal indicators located on the instrument panel.

The turn signals flash on the left or right when the turn signal switch is in the left or right turn position, respectively, and the ignition switch is in the START/RUN position. In addition, the horn sounds in sync with the turn signals. If the outer turn signal bulb burns out, the flashing intensity for the corresponding side should double. When the hazard warning lights are operating, when the hazard warning light switch is on, the turn signals flash on the left and right sides regardless of the turn signal switch position. The hazard warning lights operate regardless of the ignition switch position. In addition, the horn sounds in sync with the turn signals. If the outer turn signal bulb burns out, the flashing intensity remains the same.

Interior lighting lamps

Interior lighting that switches on when doors are opened The door open interior light feature turns on the interior lights when any of the following events occur:

• any of the car doors opens (excluding the trunk door);
• the ignition switch is in the OFF or ACC position and the unlocking is activated;
• the ignition is switched from the START/RUN position to the OFF or ACC position.

The door lock feature turns off the interior lights when all vehicle doors (excluding the tailgate) are closed and any of the following events occur:

• twenty-five seconds have elapsed since the lights were turned on or the last door was closed (without the vehicle's central locking being engaged), whichever occurred last;
• the last door was closed and the central locking of the car was turned on;
• the ignition switches from the START/RUN position to the OFF or ACC position;
• the ignition switch is in the OFF or ACC position and the door locking/deadlocking is activated.

In addition, the door-activated interior light function turns off the interior lights when the time set by the battery saver timer expires. When the door-activated interior lights are turned on, they brighten up over 0.7 seconds. When the door-activated interior lights are turned off, they go out over 0.7 seconds. When the lights are turned off due to battery saver operation, they will turn off immediately without any delay.

Safety and visibility

Heated windshield

The heated windshield function heats the windshield for up to 4 minutes after the heated windshield switch is activated when the ignition switch is in the START/RUN position and the alternator supplies the appropriate charging signal. The heated windshield turns off after 4 minutes have passed since the heated windshield operation was initiated when the ignition switch is in the OFF or ACC position, when the alternator stops charging, or when the switch is activated again while the 4-minute timer is still counting down. When the heated windshield is on, the heated windshield indicator lamp comes on.

Heated rear window glass and outside rear view mirrors

The rear window and outside rear view mirror heating function heats the rear window and outside rear view mirrors for up to 14 minutes after the rear window heating switch is turned on with the ignition switch in the START/RUN position. The rear window and outside rear view mirror heating function stops heating after 14 minutes have passed since it was turned on, when the ignition switch is in the OFF or ACC position, or when the switch is turned on again while the 14-minute timer is still counting down. When the rear window/outside mirror heating is turned on, the corresponding indicator lamp comes on.

Windshield cleaning/washing

The windshield wiper/washer function can only be activated when the ignition switch is in the START/RUN position. There are five windshield wiper modes: off, single wipe, intermittent, low speed and high speed.



When the low-speed mode is selected, the wipers continuously clean the windshield at a low speed. When the high-speed mode is selected, the wipers continuously clean the windshield at a high speed. When the intermittent mode is selected, the wipers clean the windshield at a low speed intermittently

• fixed time intervals or
• intervals depending on the wiper interval (delay) setting. There are 6 settings and the intervals are shown in the table below. When the wipers are in intermittent mode and a shorter interval is selected (i.e. wiping more frequently), an "immediate wipe" will be performed and then the wipers will start wiping with a new, shorter interval. After a longer interval is selected, the delay time for the new interval is used to set the delay time for the next wiping cycle. The delay time is measured from the end of the last wiping cycle, not from the time the interval was changed.

When the windshield washer mode is selected, washer fluid is supplied to the windshield by nozzles. If the windshield wipers were in intermittent mode or were turned off, after the washer is turned off, the windshield wipers will start working at low speed and perform 3 cleaning cycles, and then return to intermittent mode or the off state, respectively. If the windshield wipers were working at low or high speed, the windshield wipers will continue to work at the corresponding speed for the duration of the washer operation. If the windshield wipers are switched to intermittent mode or to the off state while the washer is operating, the windshield wipers will perform 3 cleaning cycles after the washer is turned off.

Rear Window Wiper: Intermittent/Wash/Reverse Wipe

The rear window wiper can only be activated when the ignition switch is in the START/RUN position.

Intermittent mode:

Once the wiper is turned on, it cleans the rear window glass at low speed and there is a 10-second interval between cleaning cycles.

Cleaning after washing:

When the rear window washer mode is selected, washer fluid is supplied to the rear window glass and the windshield wipers begin to operate continuously at low speed. After the washer is turned off, the windshield wipers perform 2-3 cleaning cycles.

Cleaning while reversing:

If the rear window wiper is not in the normal mode and reverse gear is selected, the ignition switch is in the START/RUN position and the windshield wipers are on, the rear window wiper repeats the windshield wiper cycles.

Information and warnings for the driver

Seat Belt System Warnings

The seat belt warning function activates a chime and a seat belt warning light to alert the driver that the driver's seat belt is not fastened. If the driver's seat belt is not fastened within the first 6 seconds after the ignition is turned to the START/RUN position, a warning chime will sound. The chime will stop after 6 seconds or when the driver's seat belt is fastened. If the driver's seat belt is not fastened within the first 65 seconds after the ignition is turned to the START/RUN position, the seat belt warning light will illuminate. The warning light will go out after 65 seconds or when the driver's seat belt is fastened.

Seat belt reminder function

The seat belt reminder function is a warning that complements the seat belt warning function. Once the vehicle speed exceeds 3 km/h, this function will continuously remind the driver that his seat belt is unfastened by periodically emitting an audible signal and a seat belt warning light located on the instrument panel.

Immediately after the ignition is switched to the START/RUN position, the activated seat belt reminder function alternates between 6-second on and 30-second off periods until it is completely switched off.

Once started, the seat belt reminder function will stop working only after the seat belt is fastened with the ignition switch in the OFF or ACC position or after 5 minutes have passed since the reminder function was started. If the customer fastens and then unfastens their seat belt, the seat belt reminder function will NOT give a warning after unfastening.

If the seat belt was fastened before the seat belt reminder function was activated, the function will remain inactive, i.e., it will not issue a reminder until the above conditions are met during the next ignition switch cycle from the OFF or ACC position to the START/RUN position.

Requirements for programming the seat belt reminder function:

• 1. Start with the ignition off and the driver's seat belt unfastened.
• 2. Turn the ignition to the RUN position (this is not required to start the vehicle engine)
• 3. Wait until the seat belt indicator light goes out (approximately one minute).
• 4. Fasten and then unfasten the seat belt 3 times, ending with it in the unfastened position.
• 5. Turn the headlights on and off.
• 6. Fasten and then unfasten the seat belt 3 times, ending with it in the unfastened position.
• 7. Actions according to points 4 - 6 must be completed within 60 seconds.
• 8. After performing the steps in paragraph 6, the seat belt light will turn on for 3 seconds.
• 9. After the seat belt warning light goes out, fasten and then unfasten the seat belt. This will turn on the seat belt reminder function if it was off, or turn it off if it was on.
• 10. Confirmation that the seat belt reminder function is on is provided by the seat belt indicator lamp flashing 4 times per second for 3 seconds, then turning off the lamp for 3 seconds, and then flashing the seat belt indicator lamp again 4 times per second for 3 seconds.
• 11. Confirmation that the seat belt reminder function has been switched off is provided by the seat belt indicator lamp flashing 4 times per second for 3 seconds.
• 12. The programming of the seat belt reminder function is automatically terminated after confirmation is completed.
• 13. The seat belt reminder function will automatically exit the programming mode without changing its enabled state if the actions in paragraph 9 are not performed within 10 seconds after performing the actions in paragraph 6.

NOTE: The seat belt reminder function should have the lowest warning priority.

NOTE: This feature is also programmable using WDS.

NOTE: The seat belt warning light will flash in sync with the operation of the horn (headlamps left on warning horn); on many luxury cars: a warning sound signal "key in ignition".

Headlights left on warning

The headlights left on warning function is activated when the ignition switch is in the OFF or ACC position, the headlight switch is in the PARKING LIGHTS or LOW BEAM position, and the driver's door is not completely closed. When all of these conditions are met simultaneously, a warning chime will sound.

Reversing warning

The reverse gear selection warning function is activated when the ignition switch is in the START/RUN position and the transmission lever (automatic or manual) is in the reverse gear position. When both these conditions are met simultaneously, a warning tone will sound.

Warning about incomplete door closing

The door ajar warning function turns on the door ajar indicator to alert the driver that one or more doors (including the tailgate) are ajar. This function operates when the ignition switch is in the START/RUN position. The indicator has a 3-second check following the ignition switch being turned to the RUN position.

Warning when PRNDL is not in park position

The PRNDL not in Park warning is activated when the ignition switch is in the OFF or ACC position, the PRNDL selector (automatic transmission) is not in the Park position, and the driver's door is ajar. When all of these conditions are met simultaneously, the warning chime will sound.

Request for sound signals

The beep request function emits single or repeating beeps when the ignition switch is in the START/RUN position. Sound requests are used for functions such as:

• Low fuel warning
• Confirmation of pressing the trip computer button
• Airbag Backup Power Warning
• Service interval indicator (= speed limit warning)

Priority of sound signals

Using a priority system, the horn priority controller decides which of the many functions that want to control the horn receives that control. The horn priority controller provides horn signals to alert the driver to the following:

• sound signal reminder
• message Center Alerts and Switch Presses

Key in ignition warning sound

The key in ignition warning chime alerts the driver when exiting the vehicle that the key is in the ignition switch. The key in ignition warning chime sounds immediately after the ignition is turned to the OFF or ACC position with the key in the ignition switch and the driver's door is opened. The chime also sounds immediately when the driver's door is opened with the key in the ignition switch and the ignition switch is in the OFF or ACC position. The key in ignition warning chime function interacts with the chime priority controller.

Locking (blocking)/unlocking (unblocking)

Central locking

Central locking locks all doors so that they cannot be opened from outside the vehicle. The central locking function can be activated when the door lock cylinder is turned to the lock position. When the vehicle is centrally locked and the tailgate is closed, the direction indicator/hazard warning lamps will flash once, visually indicating that the vehicle is configured for central locking without double door locking. Central locking can also be activated by pressing the inside door handle to the lock position, regardless of the position of the ignition switch. If one of the doors with a key cylinder is slightly opened when the central locking function is activated, all doors will be unlocked.

Double door locking

Double locking locks all doors so that they cannot be opened from outside the vehicle and, in addition, separates the inside door handle from the locking system so that the doors cannot be opened from inside the vehicle either.

The double locking function is activated when the ignition switch is in the OFF or ACC position, the doors with key cylinders are closed, and the lock button on the remote control fob is pressed once.

If the ignition switch is in the STAR/RUN position when double locking is activated, all doors will be centrally locked. If the vehicle speed exceeds 5 km/h, all doors will be centrally locked. When the vehicle is in double locking and all doors are closed, the direction indicator/hazard warning lamps will flash twice to visually indicate that the vehicle has been successfully double locked. If the vehicle is in central locking only, there will be no visual indication.

Unlocking a single door

The single door unlock function automatically unlocks only the driver's door when the unlock button on the remote control is pressed only once within 3 seconds.

If the vehicle has double locking enabled, when the driver's door is unlocked, the other doors will be locked centrally.

Centralized unlocking

The central unlocking function automatically unlocks all vehicle doors when,

• the door lock cylinder rotates to the unlock position,
• the unlock button on the remote control key fob is pressed twice within 3 seconds,
• the interior door handle is pulled out to the unlock position.

The system automatically centrally locks the vehicle (and therefore activates the anti-theft system) after remote unlocking if no door, including the tailgate, has been opened or if the ignition has been left in the OFF position for 45 seconds.

Automatic locking

The automatic locking function locks all doors when all passenger doors are closed, the ignition is in the START/RUN position, and the vehicle speed is less than 7 km/h. This function re-locks the doors if any door is opened, all doors become closed, and the vehicle speed is 7 km/h or higher. If the vehicle has been locked using automatic locking, there will be no feedback using the turn signals.

Enabling/disabling automatic locking:

• This function allows access to the automatic locking function. Within 30 seconds
• turn the ignition switch to the START/RUN position.
• Push and pull the inside door handle 3 times.
• Turn the ignition switch to the OFF or ACC position.
• Push and pull the inside door handle 3 times.
• Turn the ignition switch to the START/RUN position.
• The automatic locking programming mode is entered (short beep).
• Push and pull the inside door handle.
• This will enable access to the previously disabled automatic locking feature and disable previously enabled automatic locking.
• Confirmation - short beep to disable automatic locking.
• A short beep followed by a long beep to enable automatic locking access.
• Exit from the programming mode is performed by switching the ignition to the OFF or ACC position, or will occur automatically after 5 minutes from entering the programming mode (short beep).

Emergency unlocking

The emergency unlocking function automatically unlocks the vehicle centrally if it is involved in an accident (frontal collision/rear collision/side collision/rollover).

Forced locking

The interior forced locking/unlocking function requests centralized locking/unlocking of all vehicle (interior) doors upon receiving an input signal from any interior forced locking switch. The forced locking and unlocking of the doors operates regardless of the ignition switch position and regardless of the vehicle speed.

Remote Keyless Entry (RKE) Unlock Mode Programming Process

Pressing the lock and unlock buttons on the remote control simultaneously for 4 seconds will switch the unlocking mode from individual door unlocking to central unlocking. Pressing both buttons again for 4 seconds will switch back. The change of mode is indicated by 2 flashes of the hazard warning lights. The ignition switch must be in the OFF or ACC position.

Processing locking/alarm feedback

Feedback using light signaling operates in accordance with the vehicle configuration,

• if the vehicle is configured for double locking, central locking and perimeter anti-theft device, after double locking is activated, all doors, the tailgate/boot and bonnet are closed, the direction indicators will flash twice.
• if the vehicle is configured for double locking and perimeter anti-theft device, after double locking is activated (by key or remote control), all doors, the tailgate/trunk and bonnet are closed, the direction indicators will flash once.
• if the vehicle is configured for double locking and central locking, after double locking is activated, all doors and the tailgate/boot lid are closed, the direction indicators will flash twice.
• if the vehicle is configured for central locking, after central locking the vehicle using the remote control, closing all doors (if any) and the tailgate/boot, the direction indicators will flash once.

Note: Double locking feedback is activated after the motor is activated.

Remote control

The remote control function allows you to remotely activate many functions of the car, including locking / unlocking the car doors, unlocking the trunk, sounding the alarm.

The following remote control functions are included in the power window request function: general window closing, general window opening.

In addition to the above-mentioned activated functions, the remote control has many secondary functions: automatic re-locking, activation of the perimeter anti-theft device, temporary disabling of the interior scanning, turning on the interior lighting.

Anti-theft alarm

The anti-theft alarm function controls the activation of the anti-theft alarm by issuing audible and visual alarm signals that are visible and audible from outside the vehicle. The anti-theft alarm function, using the appropriate controllers, requests the activation of the turn signals and the horn before requesting their deactivation.

The anti-theft alarm is activated by pressing the PANIC button on the remote control when the ignition is in the OFF or ACC position. At all other times, this function is disabled.

Deactivation of the anti-theft alarm is performed:

• by pressing the PANIC button on the key fob for the second time
• when the ignition is switched from the OFF or ACC position
• when maximum 2.75 minutes (- 0.25 minutes) (NY state adjustment) has elapsed since initial activation.

For vehicles with both a perimeter anti-theft alarm and a simple anti-theft alarm, pressing the PANIC button while the perimeter anti-theft alarm is activated will deactivate the alarm without triggering the anti-theft alarm.

Unlocking the trunk

The trunk release function unlocks the trunk when one of the following events occurs while the ignition switch is in the OFF or ACC position or the vehicle speed is less than 7 km/h:

• the trunk release button on the remote control key fob was pressed;
• the trunk release button inside the vehicle is pressed and the vehicle's central locking is not engaged.

Request for electric window lifter

General closing of windows/sunroof using remote control or key.

The master/remote closing feature automatically closes all vehicle windows, including the sunroof if it is opened electrically, when one of the following occurs with the ignition switch in the OFF or ACC position:

• the outer door key cylinder is turned to the locking position and held for 1.5 - 2.0 seconds;
• the lock button on the remote control key fob is pressed and held for 1.5 - 2.0 seconds.

If the door lock cylinder is rotated from the locked position and returns to the locked or unlocked position before the global/remote closing is complete, the windows will stop moving. Likewise, if the lock button on the remote control is released and any other button is pressed before the global/remote closing is complete, the windows will stop moving. If an object is caught between the glass and the door frame seal while the glass is moving (closing the window), the glass will stop moving and move to a safe position.

General opening of windows/sunroof using remote control or key.

The master/remote opening feature automatically opens all vehicle windows, excluding the sunroof, when one of the following occurs with the ignition switch in the OFF or ACC position:

• the outer door lock cylinder is rotated to the unlock position and held for 1.5 - 2.0 seconds;
• the unlock button on the remote control key fob is pressed and held for 1.5 - 2.0 seconds.

If the door lock cylinder is turned from the unlock position and rotates back or to the lock or unlock position before the global/remote unlock is completed, the windows will stop moving. Likewise, if the unlock button on the remote control is released and any other button is pressed before the global/remote unlock is completed, the windows will stop moving.

Protection

Perimeter anti-theft alarm

The perimeter anti-theft alarm function activates a sound and light alarm outside the vehicle when unauthorized entry to the vehicle is detected, the radio is removed, or the ignition switch is in the START/RUN position while the system is armed. The light alarm uses the turn signals, hazard warning lights. The sound alarm uses the anti-theft alarm sound (separate from the normal sound). The perimeter anti-theft alarm system is described in the following paragraphs.

Activation

The perimeter anti-theft alarm system is initiated when all doors are locked (i.e. central locking or double locking is enabled) with the ignition switch in the OFF or ACC position. Once the doors are locked, the "Pre-Arm" phase begins, which consists of a 20 second wait before entering the "Armed" state. The Pre-Arm phase is a delay that allows any door, bonnet or trunk/liftgate to be opened or closed without triggering the alarm. At the end of the Pre-Arm phase, every input that is in a protected state (e.g. trunk closed) is armed and ready to arm the alarm. Any input that is NOT in a protected state (e.g. trunk ajar) enters a wait mode and will not trigger the alarm. Once the delayed input signal returns to a protected state (e.g. the trunk goes from partially closed to closed) and 20 seconds have elapsed, it becomes armed and ready to trigger the alarm. If the vehicle is double locked, the interior scanning system will be passively armed after a 20 second pre-arming phase, provided that all doors, including the tailgate, are closed. Interior scanning will be disabled if only central locking is enabled or any door remains open.

Disconnection

Whether pre-activated or activated, the perimeter anti-theft alarm feature is disabled when one of the following events occurs:

• the door lock cylinder returns to the unlock position;
• the unlock button on the remote control key fob was pressed.

If the trunk is opened using the trunk lock cylinder or remote control, the perimeter anti-theft alarm function disables the trunk as an input signal for activation and temporarily disables the interior scanning. Before the trunk input signal and the interior scanning system become activated and ready to initiate an alarm again, the trunk must be closed and the 20-second pre-activation phase must expire.

When the perimeter anti-theft alarm feature is activated, it will initiate an alarm when one of the following events occurs without a valid disabling as described above:

• any door, including the back door, or the hood is opened;
• the radio is being removed;
• the ignition is switched to the START/RUN position.
• the interior scanning sensor has registered an intrusion into the interior.

When the alarm is triggered, the audible warning (horn) will operate for 30 seconds and the visual warning (direction indicators/hazard warning lights) will operate for 5 minutes. If the triggered alarm is not turned off and 5 minutes have passed, the alarm will turn off but remain armed. If another trigger event occurs, the alarm will be triggered again.

Power On Reset Strategy

The system will always maintain its state if each trigger input signal is in the following state:

• activated
• pre-activated
• disabled

The system will always maintain its state if the following alarm trigger input signals are present:

• interior scanning
• radio

After 'power on reset' the system will:

• be in the state it was in before the 'power on reset' except for the interior scan;
• initiate an alarm if there is a corresponding input signal;
• was in an activated state and moved away from its default value (eg: a closed door - >open door) when the power is off.
• the cabin scan will always enter the pre-activation phase after a 'power on reset'.

Scanning the interior

The interior scanning function constantly scans the interior for any movement to determine if there is an intrusion into the vehicle when the perimeter anti-theft alarm function is activated. This function only works when the vehicle is double locked and all doors of the vehicle, including the rear door, are closed.
