Battery shelf — removal and installation (Focus 1)

Removal

1. Remove the battery. For more information, refer to the Battery chapter in this section.

2. Disconnect the clamps securing the ground wire and battery power wire from the battery tray.



3. Disconnect the starter solenoid wiring harness clamp from the battery tray.



4. Disconnect the battery power cable retaining clamp from the battery tray.



5. Disconnect the engine compartment temperature sensor from the battery tray (if equipped).

CAUTION: Remove the bolts in the sequence shown.

Remove the battery tray.

• 1. Remove the lower bolts.
• 2. Remove the top bolt.

Installation

1.

NOTE: Do not tighten the battery mounting bolts at this stage.

Install the battery mounting bolts to the battery tray.

CAUTION: Tighten the bolts in the sequence shown.

Tighten the battery tray mounting bolts.

• 1. Tighten the top bolt.
• 2. Tighten the lower bolts.

3. Connect the engine compartment temperature sensor to the battery tray (if equipped).



4. Connect the positive battery cable clamp to the battery post.



5. Connect the starter solenoid wiring harness clamp to the battery tray.





6. Connect the battery ground wire and battery power wire clamps to the battery tray.



7. Install the battery. For more information, refer to the Battery chapter in this section.
