Battery wires — removal and installation

Withdrawal


All cars

1. Remove the battery cover.
  • 1. Release the cover.
  • 2. Remove the battery cover.



2. Disconnect the battery ground wires.
  • 1. Disconnect auxiliary wires - weights.
  • 2. Disconnect the battery ground wire.



3. Disconnect the battery power wires.
  • 1. Disconnect auxiliary power wires.
  • 2. Disconnect the battery power cable.



4. Release the battery wires from the clamp.




5. Disconnect the battery ground wire from the battery shelf (for clarity, the battery is shown removed).



Vehicles with 1.4L or 1.6L engine (100 HP)

6. Detach the air filter and secure it to the side.



Vehicles with 1.6L engine (90 HP), 1.8L or 2.0L.

7. Disconnect the air filter outlet pipe from the air filter and place it aside.




8. Disconnect the plug connector of the mass air flow sensor (MAF).



9. Disconnect the air filter and place it aside.



All cars

10. Disconnect the ground wire.



11. Disconnect the starter solenoid connector.




12. Disconnect the motor ground wire.



Vehicles with 1.4L or 1.6L engine (100 HP)

13. Disconnect the starter solenoid electrical connections.



14. Disconnect the battery electrical connection.



15. Remove the battery wires.


Vehicles with 1.6L engine (90 HP), 1.8L or 2.0L.

16. Raise and support the vehicle. See Section 100-02 for more information.

17. Remove engine protection.



18. Disconnect starter electrical connections.



19. Lower the car.

20. Disconnect the electrical connection of the generator.



21. Remove the battery cable.

Installation


1. To install, follow the removal procedure in reverse order.
