Shock absorber — 3-door/4-door (15 791 0) (Focus 1)

Removal

1. Detach the cargo area trim panel and place it aside.

2.

CAUTION: Use an appropriate wrench to prevent the piston rod from turning.

Remove the upper shock absorber support mounting nut.



3. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Section 100-02 for additional information.

4. Remove the shock absorber.

Installation

NOTE: Final tightening of the upper nut and lower shock absorber mounting bolt should be performed with the vehicle resting on its own wheels.

NOTE: Do not fully tighten the lower shock absorber mounting bolt at this stage.

Install the shock absorber.

NOTE: Align the shock absorber piston rod into the mounting hole.

Lower the car.



3.

CAUTION: Use an appropriate wrench to prevent the piston rod from turning.

Install the upper shock absorber support mounting nut.



4. Connect the cargo area trim panel.

5. Tighten the lower shock absorber mounting bolt.
